Chapter 540 Triumph
Chloe.
So what if you come out on top before?

Now, all of this is going to belong to me. Even your man–the richest man in the world–would be mine soon enough.
Marriage.
That was the easiest route. Once they were married, everything between them would fall into place.
For now, she just had to focus on getting better. Eugene was being such a gentleman with her, but once she was fully recovered? There was no way that man could be a saint. Not with the woman he loved standing right in front of him.
When that moment came, she’d record every second of it. Every single detail, every angle, crystal clear. She’d make damn sure Chloe saw exactly how she’d taken the man who was supposed to be hers.
Jennifer sat up straighter in her hospital bed and hit send on the video she’d just recorded. A little while ago, Eugene had held her in his arms… and then he’d agreed to marry her.
The opening act was done. Now it was time for her to deliver the main event.
She had a feeling her master would be very pleased when he saw this footage.

Sunset Bay.
The island was postcard–perfect, and tourists were soaking up every second of their long–awaited vacations. Chloe, unfortunately, couldn’t bring herself to care about any of it.
Two days had gone by since they’d landed.
The week was dragging on like it would never end. Maybe this was what people meant when they said “a day feels like a year“. Still, as long as she didn’t have to look at that smug bastard’s face, she was managing just fine.
There was a table full of food in front of her, beautifully arranged, but Chloe had zero appetite. The reason was sitting right across from her; Vincent.
Vincent, as always, was dressed in white, though he’d swapped his usual look for something more island- appropriate–a loose linen shirt and tailored shorts, Chloe had on something similar, a pretty dress she’d carelessly knotted at the hem, ruining any chance of it looking put together.
They probably looked like a couple wearing matching vacation outfits. Too bad their faces showed none of the warmth that came with it.
“This is the most popular drink on the island, and a local specialty. You’re not going to try it?” Vincent’s voice was light, almost like he was genuinely asking,

Chloe glanced at the spread in front of her and said flatly, “I might have an appetite if you weren’t here.”
“That’s a dangerous way to think, but I’ll choose to let it slide.” Vincent placed a small, intricately decorated dessert on the plate in front of her. “Try it. I made this for you myself.”
Chloe stared at the delicate thing, her expression unchanging.
When she didn’t move, he continued, “Or… do you need a little something to get the appetite going?” He slid a tablet across the table. His fingers, long and elegant, swiped across the screen, unlocking it and pulling up a video.
“Jennifer’s made some progress. Care to see? That man you picked–Eugene–turns out he’s not so special after all.” He offered a faint smile, picked up a cup of latte from the table, and took a slow, deliberate sip.
The moment she heard Eugene’s name, something shifted behind Chloe’s carefully blank expression. A flicker of interest sparked in her eyes.
She looked down at the tablet on the table. She didn’t refuse. Instead, she reached over with deliberate calm, picked it up, and pressed play.
The video showed Jennifer, made up to look exactly like her, standing next to Eugene.
One glance and Chloe recognized the place: the villa at Riverville Prime Residence, Eugene’s house.
The footage showed Jennifer–disguised as her–being pulled into an embrace.
Because of the way the camera was angled, Eugene’s face was perfectly clear, but Jennifer’s face, with all its careful mimicry, stayed just out of frame.
“Eugene, let’s get married.”
When those words came through the tablet’s speakers, Chloe raised an eyebrow just slightly.
Eugene. Let’s get married.
How would he answer something like that?
Without missing a beat, Eugene said yes.
The whole thing felt warm, almost romantic. And then, in that same moment, Eugene let go of the woman in his arms.
Chloe reached out and played the video again from the beginning, watching it like she wasn’t quite ready to let it go, savoring every second.
