He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 621

"Where were you?" That single line was all Vincent could muster, his voice tight with restrained displeasure. Even those few words carried a clear edge of irritation.

"Got some barbecue. It's still warm—want some?" Chloe replied casually. She dropped her bag onto a nearby chair, pulled another over, and settled across from him.

Reaching into the takeout bag, she unpacked the containers, pulling out skewers of grilled kidneys, chicken gizzards, lamb, and beef.

Vincent was meticulous about his health and diet. His meals were typically prepared by private chefs with Michelin-star backgrounds, tailored to his precise standards. Street food—especially from some random late-night spot—was nowhere near his radar.

Noticing his darkening expression, Chloe picked up a skewer and took a deliberate bite right in front of him.

"This place has been around forever. The food's great—all the locals love it. I bought plenty so everyone could have a late-night bite," she said, chewing appreciatively. A slight sheen of oil glistened on her lips as she savored the flavor.

Vincent watched her, his frown deepening by the second. He was clearly holding himself back, but his patience was wearing thin.

Just as Chloe reached for a second skewer, he spoke again, his tone icy.

"Aren't you going to explain where you were?" he pressed. "You know what I'm asking about. Don't play dumb."

Chloe finished the skewer, wiped her mouth hastily with a napkin, and finally met his gaze.

"Where I go and what I do—since when do I have to run that by you?" She let out a short laugh. "It's not like I crossed any lines, did I?"

"You went to see Eugene. That doesn't count as crossing a line?" Vincent's voice rose, anger unmistakable. "I made it clear—you're not to have any contact with that man. Yet you went to see him on your own."

Chloe's smile only widened. "I had my reasons. Nothing happened between us, and I didn't breathe a word about Silverash. That was our agreement, and I kept it. So no, I didn't cross the line."

Vincent fell silent, his jaw tight.
