He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 622

"What's next?"

Vincent glanced up at Chloe. Her eagerness was plain, and it sent a chill through him. He studied her, trying to read her thoughts.

The marks on her neck were unmistakable. Even with her efforts to conceal them, they stood out clearly.

Too clearly. It was impossible for him to miss them.

Was she really in such a hurry to get back to him? Did she miss that man so much?

Vincent's hands clenched. He was holding back a wave of irritation.

"I'll let you know once I decide," he said flatly.

Chloe's face fell slightly—clearly disappointed not to get the second task right away.

Vincent rose slowly, his voice low and controlled. "Clo, I need you to be realistic. Don't test me. You won't like what happens if I lose my temper."

Chloe didn't reply. She didn't even look at him.

"You've seen what I'm like when I'm angry."

With that, Vincent walked out. The room settled back into silence, heavy and still.

Chloe remained seated, her expression unreadable.

Vincent's warning hung in the air. She knew how he got when he was pushed too far—unpredictable, reckless, with little regard for consequences. Once he snapped, there was no telling what he might do.

But so what?

Sometimes playing it safe only held you back. She couldn't let fear dictate her choices.

She was Chloe. Not an accessory to anyone, not under anyone's control. Eugene had been right—she was her own person. If something felt right, she'd do it. Plain and simple.

That night, for once, Chloe slept soundly—no dreams, no restlessness. She woke the next morning feeling refreshed, that rare sense of total relaxation lingering.

After changing into a simple black top and jeans, her hair pulled into a casual ponytail, she headed out. In the living room, Vincent was waiting. The table in front of him was spread with an elaborate breakfast spread: pancakes, eggs Benedict, avocado toast, even yakitori skewers.

Had last night's barbecue sparked this? Was he trying to make a point?

Chloe raised a brow. It was well past breakfast hour—Vincent really had too much time on his hands.

She had no intention of joining him. Today, she was going to Myers Estate.

"This has been waiting for you," Vincent said, his tone even, devoid of warmth.
