She was driving herself straight into a dead end.
"Chloe, what was that look?" Carolyn suddenly swung the gun toward Chloe, raising her voice. "Feeling sorry for me?"
Chloe didn't answer. She just kept her eyes steady on Carolyn, calm and unblinking.
"Heh, all of this started because of you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have lost everything—I wouldn't be standing here like this. It's your fault, Chloe. Yours."
Carolyn leveled the barrel at Chloe. "You lit the fuse. Remember that."
"Carolyn, you've lost your mind. You did this to yourself. If you and your family hadn't been scheming behind everyone's backs, none of this would've happened. If you hadn't tried to hurt Scott, would your mother be in prison? If you hadn't stirred up drama on set, would the studio have dropped you?" Oralia shouted back. "You have no one to blame but yourself!"
"Shut your mouth! You think I won't pull this trigger?" Carolyn shifted the gun toward Oralia immediately. Her eyes locked onto Oralia—the same Oralia who'd just won Best Actress, the award Carolyn had spent her whole life chasing.
Now all of that was out of reach forever.
"You're all a bunch of snakes. Anyone who stands with Chloe deserves to die. And today, not a single one of you is walking away." Carolyn let out a dry, hollow laugh.
"Go ahead and cry, Chloe. Today, I'm taking every last one of you down with me." She chuckled again, then turned the gun toward Robert, still dangling mid-air. "That little brat dies first! Hahaha!"
Seeing the muzzle aimed at her son, Chloe stepped forward.
"Even now, Carolyn, you're still making the wrong choices. One bad move after another. At this point, not even God could save you," Chloe said, her tone flat and final.
"Oh, is that how you talk to me now? Aren't you afraid I'll shoot? First your kid, then that pretty boy of yours?" Carolyn raised an eyebrow, a twisted smirk curling her lips. "He's not bad to look at, you know. How about... I have a little fun with him on your behalf? Right now, I'm the one in charge. What I say goes.
"Chloe, tell Eugene to get up here and sleep with me. Let me see what your man's made of." Carolyn glanced at the man beside her and jerked her chin. "And don't worry—I'll make it worth your while. The women down there... do whatever you want with them. Even the one who dresses like a guy—still a woman underneath."
"Seriously?" The man beside Carolyn perked up, his gaze locking onto Melinda.
