I was stunned for a moment, but still followed after them.
The dojo hadn’t closed yet, and Calvin and Reginald had stepped onto the ring.
Georgia and I stood below the ring, watching them nervously.
It was obvious that Reginald was no match for Calvin; in just a few dozen seconds, he had already taken several punches.
He had always been a pampered young master, when had he ever been beaten like this?
The fighting spirit buried deep in his bones was suddenly awakened.
Time and again, he was knocked down, but each time he got back up, gritting his teeth and swinging his fists at Calvin.
But every time, he couldn’t even get close to Calvin before being beaten up again.
Finally, Reginald was knocked to the ground once more. This punch was a bit heavy, and blood started streaming from his nose.
Looking at his miserable state, being pinned to the ground and roughed up, I couldn’t hold back anymore and called out, “That’s enough, let’s stop here!”
As I spoke, Reginald stubbornly stood up once again.
Calvin’s face was dark as he glanced at me, then looked at the bloodied Reginald across from him. “Do you admit defeat?”
Reginald sneered, “How could I?”
With that, he squared up again.
Seeing that my words had no effect, I could only try to climb onto the ring to stop them.
But halfway up, Georgia grabbed me, her face full of disdain. “Reginald said he doesn’t need help, so don’t get in their way.”
If they kept fighting like this, Calvin might lose control and seriously injure Reginald! What would we do then?!

I ignored her, shook her off, and climbed onto the ring.
By then, Reginald had already been forced into the corner of the ring.
Calvin’s fist was about to come down on him, and Reginald had nowhere left to run.
If that punch landed, he would definitely get a concussion.
Without thinking, I rushed forward to block Calvin. “That’s enough.”

His expression sharpened, and he quickly changed direction, pulling back his strength so he didn’t hit me.
I knew my actions were a bit reckless, but I really couldn’t just stand by and watch things escalate.
Calvin’s eyes were full of surprise, his voice boiling with anger. “Are you crazy?”
I pressed my lips together, looked at him, and retorted, “Don’t you want to be a police officer in the future?”
As soon as I said that, both Calvin and I were stunned.
Only then did I realize that at this point in time, no one seemed to know that Calvin would one day become a detective.
His gaze toward me changed instantly.
I hurriedly looked away, bent down to help the groaning Reginald up from the ground. “Let’s go, Reginald. Losing to him isn’t shameful; your life is more important.”
At least he managed to get down the steps, grimacing as he pointed at the photo of Calvin’s past victories on the wall. “You’re tough!”
“I want to learn kick–boxing too! Just wait, I’ll challenge you again someday!”
Calvin raised his eyebrows. “Anytime.”
As I helped Reginald leave the dojo, I could feel that gaze behind us never leaving.
It was only a few dozen meters, but I walked as if my soul had left my body.
The way Calvin looked at me on the ring just now kept haunting me.
Reginald’s family was wealthy, but just like mine, his parents were never home.
Worried that no one would take care of him when he got home, I took him to the pharmacy first.

Fortunately, though his injuries looked scary, they weren’t actually serious.

Knowing Calvin as I did, I couldn’t help but suspect that he had deliberately aimed for Reginald’s most prized face.
It was practically psychological warfare.
After treating Reginald’s wounds, we each went home.
Just as I was about to reach my doorstep, I saw Calvin standing under the streetlight.
