Scarlett's whole body jolted. She spun around rapidly. Seeing the crowd of familiar faces standing menacingly at the doorway, she immediately hung up the phone.
It was Corinne, Gwen, and Sylvia. They all glared at her like predatory animals, their expressions a colorful mix of malice and triumph.
The person who had just shouted that vile remark was none other than Corinne.
Scarlett's gaze instantly turned icy. She glared back at them, the anger at the bottom of her heart igniting into a raging wildfire.
"What do you think you're doing? As her in-law, how could you say something so inhumane?"
Timothy Gray jumped in fright when he realized who had arrived. He immediately stood up, pointing at them in furious reprimand.
Seeing this, Amelia instinctively stepped in front of Scarlett, righteous indignation rolling off her.
"Exactly! How can you gloat over a tragedy? Scarlett spent five years in the Flynn family, giving you a grandchild, and you have the nerve to say something so cruel?"
Corinne had clearly come prepared.
Behind the three women trailed a massive swarm of burly bodyguards.
Just thinking about Orchard Villa and the Stetson family mansion being reduced to ashes in the fire made Corinne's blood boil.
Setting aside the fact that Gwen and her husband were pressuring the Flynn family for an explanation, Corinne was determined to put Scarlett in her place today.
If murder wasn't illegal, she would have ended Scarlett's life right then and there.
What infuriated her even more was her foolish son. Despite Scarlett causing such a catastrophic mess, Yardley had actually defended her after inspecting the Stetson property.
He claimed the police attributed the fire to old, faulty wiring, totally absolving Scarlett.
