He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 135

Gwen instantly perked up.

"What did you find out? Hurry, tell me."

Sylvia narrowed her eyes.

"The very day Jacqueline returned from Australia, she fired a floor manager who had been working at their club for years."

"Rumor has it he violated their internal rules by groping a new waitress. The girl was a college student working part-time, and she had such a fierce temper she threatened to jump off the building. Jacqueline fired the manager just to cover the whole thing up."

Hearing this, Gwen practically clapped her hands in delight.

"That's wonderful! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!"

"Sylvia, quickly, get me that manager's contact info. Someone who has worked under her for years definitely knows plenty of dirty secrets."

A sharp, envious glare shot from Gwen's eyes.

"Ever since Jacqueline paid off all her debts and opened La Belle Nuit, she has been acting more arrogant than ever."

"I have been wanting to destroy her reputation again for a long time, but the bitch knows how to train her staff. Her people are insanely loyal to her. The whole place is tighter than a drum, and I could never find a way in. But now, our chance is finally here!"

Sylvia looked confused.

"Mom, do you and Jacqueline have some deep-seated grudge? Why do you and Aunt Corinne both seem to hate her so much?"

Gwen placed the sleeping Caleb back onto the bed, took a sip of water, and sat down.

"Hate her? How could I not?"

"Years ago, your Aunt Corinne, Jacqueline, and I all attended Nightingale Academy for Girls."

"She was always showing off back then. Wherever she went, she made sure your aunt and I looked like nothing more than background characters."

Gwen swallowed bitterly, the flames of jealousy burning brighter in her eyes.

"Later, when we grew up and it was time to find husbands, she stole the spotlight again, becoming Bay City's number one socialite."

"Yes. The broken engagement caused an incredibly ugly scene. Returning to your aunt was just his second choice. That is why your aunt has held a massive grudge over it all these years."

"Especially after joining The Flynn family. She had three daughters in a row, which only made Franklin resent her more. Finally, by some miracle, she gave birth to Yardley. But when Yardley grew up, he somehow lost his mind and married Jacqueline's daughter. Tell me, how could your aunt possibly accept that?"

Sylvia finally understood the tangled web of resentment. She let out a soft sigh.

"It is all my fault. If Yardley and I hadn't fought back then, and if I hadn't impulsively married Julian out of spite, Yardley wouldn't have married Scarlett in a moment of desperation."

Her eyes filled with contempt. "Scarlett is nothing compared to her mother. Short hair, never dresses up, just a clueless workaholic. I don't know what is wrong with Yardley, passing up so many gorgeous women to make her his wife."

Gwen couldn't have agreed more.

"Don't even get me started. Your aunt can't figure it out either. The worst part is that Scarlett clings to him like a leech. For five whole years, your aunt tried countless ways to torment her, hoping she would just pack up and leave on her own, but she miraculously endured every single bit of it."

Sylvia sneered.

"Well, it looks like she can't endure it much longer, right? Let's throw some gasoline on the fire of their marriage and ensure they divorce immediately!"
