"Save your pathetic act! It won't work on me, Yardley!"
"When you turned a blind eye to my suffering, you should have known this day would come! Let me go! Acting like this just makes you look desperate and disgusting!"
Her words plunged straight into his chest like daggers. The agonizing pain made his vision go dark.
He blinked his bloodshot eyes, only to tighten his grip on her, his voice turning deadly cold.
"I'm not letting you go. And I will never let you be with Julian."
"As long as the papers aren't finalized, you are still my wife. You're coming back to Orchard Villa with me tonight."
"Screw you, and screw Orchard Villa!" Scarlett exploded, adrenaline surging through her veins.
She brought her knee up with everything she had, slamming it right into his groin!
"Ugh—!" Yardley let out a muffled groan, his body instantly curling in on itself as his iron grip loosened.
Seizing the split second of freedom, Scarlett twisted like an enraged panther and slammed her elbow backward, catching him square in the chest.
Bang!
The impact threw Yardley backward, his spine crashing heavily against the car door.
Scarlett scrambled away, practically throwing herself at the opposite door. Her trembling fingers clawed at the lock.
Click. The lock popped.
Through the window, she could see Julian frantically smashing at the glass and kicking the door, panic radiating from him.
Yardley was completely unhinged now. He was a lunatic.
Scarlett took a deep breath and shoved the door open.
Just as the cool air of freedom rushed into her lungs, a haunting, ghostly voice came from behind her, freezing her in place.
She had never felt so violently repulsed by another human being in her entire life. And to think this was the man she had once treated like a god.
Smack!
A vicious slap echoed through the car, landing squarely on Yardley's face.
Her eyes wide with rage, she screamed, "I never thought you could stoop this low! You're absolute trash!"
His face jerked to the side from the impact. Slowly, he reached up and wiped a bead of blood from the corner of his mouth.
When he looked back at her, his eyes were even redder, but he wore a chilling, half-crazed smile that sent a shiver down her spine.
"Am I? Honestly, my only regret is that I didn't stoop this low sooner..."
Without warning, his hand shot out, his fingers wrapping around her jaw like a steel vice, forcing her to look at him.
"Make your choice. Are you coming home with me, or are you getting out of the car? Hmm?"
