He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 323

Julian's gaze turned instantly icy, and both of them stopped in their tracks.

Scarlett stared coldly at Yardley Flynn, her eyes filled with shock and frost. "Yardley, what are you doing here?"

With one hand casually tucked into his pocket, Yardley stood in the shadows. His dark eyes held zero warmth. The night breeze caught the edge of his coat as his low, raspy voice cut through the silence.

"Waiting for you, obviously."

He paused, his gaze raking over her face like a blade. "Though the wait was a bit longer than expected. From six o'clock until now. It seems you've been quite comfortable at Julian's."

Scarlett caught the barbed sarcasm in his tone and let out a cold laugh. "Are you stalking me now? We've already filed the divorce papers. Is this really necessary? Who exactly is this 'devoted husband' act for?"

Yardley's eyes slowly slid to Julian before locking back onto Scarlett. A gust of wind hit him, and he coughed into his hand, his pale knuckles turning white from the strain.

"Did you know I was in the hospital for over half a month and only got discharged today?"

Scarlett's expression remained entirely apathetic. "No, and I don't care. Yardley, we are nothing to each other anymore. Please stop harassing me. Can we just preserve whatever tiny shred of dignity we have left?"

Yardley stared into her eyes. When he found not a single drop of pity or affection in them, the dam holding back his pent-up rage completely shattered.

He lunged forward, grabbing her slender wrist and yanking her violently toward him.

Before Scarlett could even scream, the world spun. In a blur of motion, he shoved her into the backseat of the Bentley and slammed the door shut, locking it with a heavy thud that completely drowned out Julian's frantic pounding on the glass.
