Inside the banquet hall, the lights were dazzling, and the room buzzed with lively conversation.
A full hundred tables were occupied by elegantly dressed guests toasting each other in high spirits.
Not only did every single invited guest show up, but even several elusive VIPs who rarely attended public events made surprise appearances, giving the Langley family immense face.
Having run a high-end club for years, Jacqueline was a master of social finesse.
She had spared no expense, booking the entire executive lounge and luxury suite floor of the Zenith Hotel just to accommodate the VIPs who had traveled from out of town. The sheer scale of the event was staggering.
Inside the VIP lounge.
Exhausted from the formalities, baby Dawn was already fast asleep, nestled safely in Scarlett's arms.
Nearby, Zara was quietly packing up the baby supplies.
With a soft click, the door opened.
Jacqueline walked in, her face flushed, exuding an irrepressible joy and pride.
She closed the door behind her and quickly walked over to her daughter. "Scarlett, how was it? Did your mom do you proud tonight?"
Seeing the tears welling in her mother's eyes, Scarlett felt a sharp pang of sorrow, but she quickly steadied herself. "Yes, Mom. We'll face everything together. We will never let anyone bully us again!"
Jacqueline nodded, though a hint of regret crossed her features. "Everything was perfect tonight. My only regret is that your brother couldn't make it back in time. He's so busy. I really don't know when we'll be able to see him."
"Bill's business empire is expanding rapidly right now," Scarlett reassured her softly. "It's normal that he couldn't get away. Besides, even without him here, we are more than capable of handling anything Bay City throws at us, aren't we?"
Jacqueline looked at her daughter with deep immense pride. "Yes. I only found out tonight that you haven't just been wallowing in heartbreak all these years. You've made a real name for yourself in both architecture and historical restoration. Even Dominic Croft brought his entire family out to support you."
Scarlett smiled warmly. "Julian and I are friends. His grandmother was my mentor, and I've worked closely with Mr. Croft. Plus, Elara and you were classmates, so I just sent out invitations to all of them."
