Scarlett looked up.
Melanie Flynn marched in aggressively, trailed by a massive swarm of reporters and bodyguards. Instantly, a sea of cameras and flashing lights locked onto the room.
That vicious accusation sent a violent tremor straight through Scarlett's heart.
Ignoring Melanie completely, Scarlett shifted her gaze slowly to Yardley. Her eyes bored into his face, her voice dropping to a temperature colder than ice.
"Yardley, did you hear what your sister just said?"
Meeting her gaze, Yardley's brow furrowed heavily. He could vividly feel the excruciating, agonizing pain radiating from her eyes.
For any woman, being publicly accused of having an illegitimate child was the ultimate destruction of her character. Because of that, he had genuinely hesitated to take this step.
But earlier, after making it through Sylvia's family reunion gala, he had stood in the shadows and watched the Croft family's relatives leave Scarlett's banquet one by one.
He had watched Scarlett and Julian standing side by side at the door, personally seeing off Julian's elders and the powerful VIPs.
He had even seen Julian holding his daughter. The man's movements were tender, his expression utterly devoted as he laughed and joked with Scarlett.
Meanwhile, Jacqueline, Elara, and Dominic stood right next to them, playing with the baby. They looked so happy. They looked exactly like a family.
In that split second, the jealous rage he had been suppressing all night finally exploded.
He felt he didn't even need a second DNA test. The answer was glaringly obvious.
Factoring in Scarlett's coldness and all her scorched-earth behavior lately, everything suddenly made perfect sense.
This was a blatant, unapologetic betrayal.
Scarlett and Julian had been sneaking around this whole time, and the baby belonged to them.
The divorce... was nothing more than a trap they had carefully laid for him and Sylvia so they could finally be together.
Yardley stared at Scarlett with dark, hostile eyes.
