He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 475

Veronica froze mid-step as if she'd hit an invisible wall.

She kept her neck stiff. Having been spoiled and catered to her entire life, her arrogance was practically baked into her DNA. Bowing her head and swallowing her pride wasn't something she knew how to do.

Seeing her stubbornness, Joel broke into a cold sweat.

He kept shooting her frantic glares, but when she didn't budge, he could only offer Julian an agonizingly apologetic smile.

"Mr. Croft... Veronica is young and ignorant. She was just over-anxious about her grandfather and lost her head. I'm sure she realizes her mistake now. Could you perhaps overlook this and let her go?"

"Mr. Shaw," Julian cut him off lazily, his tone quiet but utterly uncompromising. "She severely insulted my friend. I want her to look my friend in the eye and apologize. I don't think that's asking too much."

His words hit like a sledgehammer, making Joel flinch.

He knew exactly how much weight the young man standing before him carried. The Crofts might keep a low profile, but they were the true apex predators of the corporate world. They operated on a completely different level from the Thorne family, who had merely struck it rich in real estate.

Joel spun around and barked at Veronica.

"Veronica! What are you waiting for?! Didn't you hear Mr. Croft? Apologize to him and Ms. Langley this instant!"

Veronica bit her lower lip so hard she nearly drew blood, her manicured nails digging into her palms.

From the day she was born, she had been worshiped and pampered.

When had she ever been subjected to such public humiliation?

She shot a venomous glare at Scarlett, still refusing to spit out an apology. Instead, she opted for a threat.

"I hold the keys to the S-Class cultural tourism town project. Are you sure you want me to apologize?"

Julian sneered. "Business is business. Right now, you insulted us. Apologize."

Crushed by the sheer gravity of Julian's aura, Veronica shuddered. Humiliated beyond belief, she practically squeezed the words through her teeth.

"I'm... I'm sorry."

Julian offered zero mercy. "Louder. My friend can't hear you."

Scarlett looked up, her feelings a tangled mess.

She had always known Julian was highly capable, but she hadn't realized his background was this staggering.

Even a premier private hospital like Mercy International was apparently just a tiny fraction of his empire.

"I'm fine," she said softly.

She cast a worried glance toward the door.

"But that Veronica Thorne clearly isn't someone who lets things go. Offending her today probably means... the cultural tourism town project is going to fall through."

Julian chuckled, entirely unbothered.

"It's fine. Even if we lose that project, we'll have plenty of others."

"As long as you want to work, Croft Design Studio will never run out of premium contracts. But right now, your only priority is resting and taking care of Dawn. As for work... even if the sky falls, I'll hold it up."
