He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 621

"As long as you understand."

"Stay by my side and focus on your work. The promises I made to you when we were young haven't changed."

Yardley brought Sylvia straight back to the Flynn Group headquarters.

Scarcely had they arrived when Veronica showed up with her father, Quentin Thorne, and their team.

Veronica was dressed in her usual flashy, attention-grabbing style. She wore a bright green ruffled gown with a massive bow on one shoulder, her dark hair cascading down her back, and a face full of heavy makeup.

The moment she stepped into the office and spotted Yardley, she rushed over with an overly intimate smile.

"Yard—"

The rest of his name caught in her throat. She stopped dead in her tracks.

Just as she was about to reach him, Sylvia suddenly stepped out from behind the curio shelf in the corner. She held a filthy dark rag in her hand and nearly brushed it against Veronica's brand-new dress.

Veronica was about to explode, but swallowing her anger upon realizing who it was, she forced a tight smile. "Sylvia, what are you doing in his office?"

"Oh, I noticed the shelf behind Yardley's desk was getting a bit dusty, so I decided to help clean it up," Sylvia replied, a sweet smile playing on her lips. "By the way, Veronica, I have some good news. I'm officially joining Flynn Group as a designer."

Veronica froze, her brow furrowing in surprise. "What?"

"With me keeping an eye on him for you, you won't have a thing to worry about," Sylvia whispered, leaning in and giving Veronica a conspiratorial wink.

Initially, Veronica had been suspicious of Sylvia's true motives. After all, she knew perfectly well that Sylvia and Yardley weren't blood relatives. It was hard not to overthink a woman hovering so closely around her man.

But Sylvia's whispered assurance instantly erased those doubts.
