He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 66

The phrase "boss's wife" completely sent Scarlett over the edge.

"Yardley, let me go! Don't force me to do something you'll regret!"

Looking down at her, Yardley tightened his grip on her arms.

"Haven't you been ruthless enough lately? Just behave, alright?"

His deep, magnetic voice sent a wave of disgust rolling over her skin. She narrowed her eyes dangerously.

"I left you an out, Yardley. You're the one who didn't take it—"

Yardley didn't quite process it in time. "What?"

Scarlett brought her stiletto heel down hard, stomping violently onto Yardley's foot. The agonizing pain made him release her on pure reflex.

*Crash!*

In the next second, Scarlett violently shoved a jade statue to the ground. Yardley had spent a fortune to acquire it.

The treasured artifact shattered against the floor, cracks splintering across its surface.

"Scarlett!"

Yardley's eyes widened, his rage boiling over instantly.

Her face a mask of ice, Scarlett didn't even give him time to react. She ripped a schedule chart off the wall, tore it to shreds, and stomped on the pieces.

Yardley's face turned green.

That chart was a highly detailed project timeline he had specially commissioned a professional to make, designed to micromanage the design department.

It tracked every designer's tasks, milestones, and shifts down to the minute. Aside from a half-hour lunch break, even their bathroom breaks were timed to the second.

To him, it was a tool to maximize efficiency and streamline the workflow.

But to everyone in the design department—especially Scarlett—that chart was pure torture. Because she loved him, she had silently endured it for five whole years.

She, along with her team of three, had been worked to the bone, forced to become the most miserable employees in the entire Flynn Group.

Now, the chart she had wanted to destroy for years, along with all of Yardley's "control" over her, was reduced to a pile of scrap paper.
