He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 71

Having successfully resigned from the Flynn Group, Scarlett Langley was finally able to take back all her design drafts and hard work.

Scarlett let out a heavy sigh of relief. This was a small, but significant, victory.

Her next step was to register her daughter's legal paperwork, and then, finally, file for divorce.

Thinking about her daughter's registration, Scarlett pulled her car into the underground garage of Azure Estates and sat in silence for a moment.

Summoning her courage, she texted Jacqueline.

[Mom, when are you coming back?]

She waited in the car for a long time, but Jacqueline never replied.

A wave of melancholy washed over her. She thought about how her relationship with her mother had deteriorated over the past five years, all because of Yardley Flynn. They had been constantly at odds, their relationship freezing to an absolute standstill.

Scarlett let out another heavy sigh. Why did she ever bother getting married? It had nearly cost her her entire family. And in the end, the marriage had given her absolutely nothing but misery.

Scarlett shook her head, refusing to dwell on it any longer, and took the elevator up to her apartment.

After quickly sanitizing her hands and changing into her loungewear, she took her daughter from Zara.

Dawn had just woken up and was feeding. Her little face was flushed pink, and she looked incredibly adorable clutching her bottle.

Looking at that delicate, beautifully crafted little face, Scarlett's heart swelled with joy. She simply couldn't bear to put the baby down.

Just then, Talia Gray sent her a photo. It showed a mountain of designer baby products piled high in the hallway.

Talia attached a message:

[Clarissa Flynn just dropped by. Said she was bringing stuff for Dawn, and I ran right into her. Is the sun rising in the west for the Flynn family? Did they finally grow a conscience?]

Scarlett pictured Clarissa's cold, aloof face and felt a flicker of surprise, but she had no intention of accepting the goodwill.

She called Talia immediately.

Since they had reconnected, he had sent her multiple large sums for her expenses.

Her bank balance was now sitting at a ridiculous number of digits, though she hadn't bothered to count. She had never been particularly money-driven.

But she knew one thing for sure: with her newfound family's full financial backing, she truly wanted for nothing.

Meanwhile, Corinne sent Yardley a location, and he rushed straight to the scene of Sylvia Stetson's attempted suicide.

It was a sprawling, luxury high-rise apartment measuring over two thousand square feet. It was a pre-marital property Sylvia's parents had bought her, coincidentally developed by the Flynn Group.

When they purchased it, Yardley had practically sold it to them at cost, figuring it could serve as a backup plan for Sylvia if she ever felt unhappy living with her in-laws.

Instead, she was currently using it as a stage to jump from.

Bursting through the door, Yardley saw Sylvia perched precariously on the windowsill, clinging to the frame and refusing to come down. His temper flared instantly.

"Sylvia, what are you doing? Haven't you had enough?"
