He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 1005

Skye scowled, her tiny frame practically vibrating with caution. She completely ignored the woman's question.

Grace stared hungrily at the little girl, scrutinizing every inch of her face.

The shape of her eyes and brows was a carbon copy of Sebastian's.

She actually resembled him far more than Kyle ever did.

But the delicate curve of her jaw and her soft features were undeniably inherited from Helena.

Grace had never really cared much for granddaughters.

But this child shared her bloodline, and the fact that she was being raised by a rival family was a disgusting insult to her pride.

She was absolutely determined to drag this girl back to her rightful place.

Why should she bear someone else's name?

The predatory glare was making Skye increasingly anxious.

"I don't know you," she stated boldly, masking her fear.

"I'm leaving. If you don't get out of my way, I'm going to scream for help," she threatened fiercely.

Then, she darted to the side, trying to squeeze past.

She was already drawing in a massive breath to yell.

But the older woman's next words stopped her dead in her tracks.

"I'm your grandmother, sweetie," Grace announced bluntly.

"My grandmother? Are you crazy?" Skye snapped without skipping a beat. "My grandma is dead."

Her last name might have been Campbell.

But her actual father didn't share that name.

She had never even met her paternal grandmother; the woman had passed away long before she was born.

She only knew her adoptive grandparents.

So to hear this random stranger claim the title was completely absurd.

Refusing to waste another second on a crazy person, she lunged toward the exit again.

Grace immediately stepped forward, blocking her path entirely.

"I'm telling the truth. Helena is your mother, and Sebastian is your father. That makes me your real grandmother," she hissed rapidly. "A lot of horrible things happened back then, which is why they abandoned you and let another family take you in. But you are their flesh and blood. You are my granddaughter."

She delivered the devastating secret in one ruthless, uninterrupted breath.
