He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 203

Sebastian frowned.

This time, Helena took control of the conversation, locking eyes with him. "You're suddenly treating me well because you want to use me to provoke Janetta, aren't you? You want to make her jealous so she'll come crawling back and submit to you. Am I right?"

Her gaze was piercing, burning with absolute certainty.

Sebastian didn't answer. He simply stood there, expressionless. His silence confirmed she had hit the nail on the head.

She let out a soft, mocking chuckle. She didn't look away, waiting patiently for his response.

When Janetta had walked away without hesitation, Helena had been surprised. But once she thought about it, she realized Janetta was just trying to force Sebastian's hand. It was the exact same manipulative stunt Janetta had pulled right after Helena and Sebastian got married. Back then, Sebastian hadn't hesitated—he had flown straight across the world on their wedding day to chase after her.

Helena had naively believed it was for a business emergency. Only later did she realize it was all for Janetta. She had been the ultimate punchline to a cruel joke.

But things were different now. She and Sebastian were getting a divorce. He was completely free to go after Janetta.

Having loved Sebastian for seven years, Helena knew exactly how his mind worked. The man had zero patience. No matter how much he loved someone, he would never allow them to walk all over him. Janetta was deliberately testing his boundaries, trying to force a compromise. Naturally, Sebastian wasn't going to roll over.

In this standoff, Janetta was hopelessly outmatched. And Helena realized she was the perfect tool in Sebastian's arsenal. She still occupied the position of Mrs. Hayes—the very title Janetta obsessed over. Janetta already despised her. If Sebastian flaunted a renewed affection for Helena, Janetta would panic and come running back.

The power dynamic had shifted. Helena held the cards now.

He stood with his hands tucked into his pockets, his heavy gaze fixed on her. The woman standing before him was confident, arrogant even—a far cry from the cautious, gentle wife who used to tiptoe around him. She was practically glowing with defiance.

In all of Riverton, no one dared to negotiate with him so brazenly without flinching.

He had originally been drawn to Janetta because of her bold confidence, just as he had grown to despise Helena for her spineless submission. But in this exact moment, he realized Helena was different. She looked like the bright, ambitious woman he had met before they were married—before she had given up her career for him.

Outwardly, however, his expression remained perfectly neutral.

"I can play along," Helena's voice cut through his thoughts. "But on one condition. You sign the divorce agreement first. In three months, once the baby is born, the paperwork goes into effect. By then, your inheritance won't be compromised."
