He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 22

She didn't dare fight back too violently, terrified of tearing his wounds open further—knowing full well that she would be the one to pay the price if she did.

It was as if he reserved all his patience and gentleness for Janetta, leaving nothing but his explosive temper for her.

She had already given up on him, so what right did he have to keep tormenting her?

A suffocating wave of despair slowly filled her chest.

"Feeling wronged?" Sebastian had no intention of letting her go.

His long, elegant fingers gripped her waist as she stared up at him in resistant panic.

She was pregnant. This could cause a miscarriage.

Memories from years ago flooded her mind, drowning her in the terror of history repeating itself.

But her resistance only completely infuriated him.

As he shifted his weight lower, her eyes widened in alarm, her hands desperately gripping the edges of the hospital bed.

His grim voice murmured right by her ear. "As long as we are married, I forbid you from seeing other men. I will not let you make a fool out of me."

She wanted to run.

But trapped beneath his heavy frame, there was zero room for escape.

Footsteps echoed outside the door. A doctor or nurse could walk in for rounds at any second.

Yet Sebastian remained utterly brazen.

The high-end hospital bed didn't make a single sound.

If anyone were to merely glance inside, they would witness the highly inappropriate, scandalous scene unfolding right there in the room.

His dominance was entirely unreasonable.

A sharp cramp seized her abdomen, sending a fresh wave of pain through her until a cold sweat broke out across her forehead.

Her knuckles turned white as she clenched the headboard.

Overwhelmed by fear, tension, and sheer helplessness, she broke down. Fat tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Please, don't..." she begged him.

"What? Trying to save yourself for Lance?" he sneered, driven by reckless jealousy. "Tell me. When did you two start talking?"

He pinched her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye.

That was when he saw her face, completely drenched in tears.

"You're a real mood killer, Helena," he muttered, keeping his voice low.

"You bastard!" she cried out.

"So what? I'm warning you. If I ever find out Lance is contacting you again, you'll face the consequences," he threatened.

Drenched in sweat, she glared back with defiance. "And what about you and Janetta? Are you not making a fool out of me with your own cheating?"

The sudden mention of Janetta made his expression turn even more grim.

He stared down at her, and his response was an even harsher physical dominance.

The room filled with the quiet rustle of the sheets and the steadily rising, suffocating heat between them.

Her tear-blurred eyes met his razor-sharp gaze.

Everything was spiraling out of control, and neither of them could find a logical reason to stop.

There was nothing left but his habitual need to punish her.

Suddenly, the door to the room swung open.

Carter's panicked voice rang out from the hallway. "Ms. Ramirez, Mr. Hayes is resting! You can't—"
