But just as Helena brushed past her, Janetta suddenly grabbed her arm.
Helena instantly locked eyes with her. "Let go."
Her voice was cold and unrelenting.
She didn't thrash around, fully aware they were both pregnant.
She couldn't risk an accident.
Yet Janetta just smiled at her.
The look in her eyes, however, was icy and dead.
It even held a glint of bloodthirsty cruelty.
The heavy dread in Helena's chest intensified rapidly.
Before she could react, Janetta's cold, vicious voice cut through the air.
"I gave you the chance to leave, but you refused. You just had to cling to Seb like a leech," Janetta sneered.
Helena frowned.
She realized then that Janetta and Sebastian were cut from the exact same cloth.
They were both masters at spinning lies and throwing dirt.
But before Helena could retort, Janetta spoke again.
"So, if something bad happens today, you can't blame me, alright?"
With that, Janetta let out a laugh.
It was a deeply chilling sound.
Helena's frown deepened.
She wanted no part in this twisted game.
But it was clear Janetta wasn't going to let her walk away.
Besides, she was no longer a pushover who would let this woman walk all over her.
Why the hell should she?
Her expression cooled. "Ms. Ramirez, you should probably ask Sebastian what he wants."
Helena paused, completely ignoring the way Janetta's face twisted in rage.
She finished her thought calmly, "After all, you've been with him for a decade and still haven't secured a ring. Either you don't have what it takes, or he never had any intention of marrying you. Don't you agree?"
She didn't need to shout for the words to slice deep.
