Meanwhile.
By the time Sebastian Hayes returned to the hospital, Carter Miles was already waiting for him.
"Mr. Hayes, I've pulled the security footage from the sanatorium, and there's nothing out of the ordinary," Carter said, his brows furrowed.
That meant no one had entered or exited Wynn's room.
Sebastian remained silent, stopping in his tracks to look at Carter.
Carter continued, "But I did spot a nurse outside the room who doesn't belong on that floor. The thing is, she had access and swiped her way in."
"What's the situation?" Sebastian asked, his voice dark.
"I asked around, and the other nurses have no idea. The nursing staff on Wynn's floor is fixed, but they do work in shifts, so temporary substitutes aren't completely unheard of," Carter explained.
"Have you found out who this person is?" Sebastian demanded.
"According to the keycard logs, she's a nurse from another department. The camera angle didn't catch her face. I had someone track her down, but she completely denied it. She claimed she was downstairs the entire time and never went up. She also said she didn't notice anything wrong with her access card. I checked the footage of her area, and she really was at her station the whole time."
Carter's tone grew increasingly serious.
Sebastian's gaze turned predatory as he quickly pieced it together.
"The footage on Wynn's floor was tampered with. It's been looped or overwritten. As for this nurse, find her. If she was in and out of that room, there's definitely a trail," Sebastian ordered coldly.
Carter nodded. "Understood."
But Carter didn't need to say more.
Wynn hadn't offended anyone.
So the question of who wanted Wynn dead suddenly became glaringly obvious.
Soon, Carter turned and left.
Sebastian's expression remained unreadable as he walked toward Janetta's hospital room.
Everything Carter had thought of, Sebastian had already considered.
Helena's previous accusations were still fresh in his mind.
But on the surface, Sebastian hid those suspicions perfectly.
He calmly pushed open the door to Janetta's room.
The moment Janetta saw Sebastian, she practically leaped to her feet in panic.
