He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 371

She had lost everything.

She refused to lose her only daughter.

This baby was the only reason Helena Wallace kept fighting.

She stared fixedly at Sebastian: "Fine. Wynn is gone, and I only have this baby left. I'm her mother, so I have every right to know how she's doing."

Sebastian remained quiet, offering no reply this time.

He simply didn't know how to answer.

This baby was Helena's only remaining hope.

He knew that better than anyone.

But the baby's current condition was entirely nerve-wracking.

Helena didn't care about his silence.

"Sebastian, I want to see her. I don't care what condition she's in right now."

"I know she's still alive, because you need her to secure those shares."

"Let me see her. She's my daughter!"

Helena's emotions began to spiral.

Sebastian stepped toward her, instinctively reaching out to grasp her hand.

But in the next second, despite her total lack of strength, she ripped her hand away.

She couldn't even stand the thought of him touching her.

Sebastian wasn't oblivious to her revulsion.

His gaze remained fixed on her.

But this time, he was the one to break the silence.

"Helena, take care of yourself first. You have to get out of the ICU before you can even think about seeing her."

Sebastian spoke calmly, no longer hiding anything regarding their daughter.

"She isn't doing well. Her birth weight was dangerously low, and she's dealing with multiple complications. She's in an incubator right now, with nurses and doctors monitoring her twenty-four seven. It isn't appropriate for you to visit her. Even I haven't been allowed inside to avoid cross-infection," he explained truthfully.

Firstly, it would shut down her desperate demands.

Secondly, it was the absolute truth.

Sebastian had only seen the baby once.

And even then, it had been through the glass of the incubator; he hadn't even been allowed to touch the child.

His words sent Helena's heart straight into her throat.

Helena froze for a brief second.

Then she lowered her head and let out a bitter laugh.

"I don't believe you, Sebastian," she said, her eyes locked onto his. "I need to see her for myself."

Just like with Wynn.

Everything she thought she saw had been a lie.

Especially when it came to this child.

So she stubbornly stood her ground.

"Helena!" His voice darkened with warning.

"I want to see her!" she insisted.

"I said, wait until you're stable," he denied her request again.

Helena kept a death grip on his hand, refusing to let go.

Sebastian quickly noticed that the freshly sutured wound under her bandages was already starting to bleed.

His expression shifted, and he immediately called the doctor into the room.
