But in that moment, she seemed to possess a terrifying amount of strength.
She refused to let go, repeating like a broken record, "Give my daughter to me. She's of no use to you anymore..."
She mumbled relentlessly until her voice faded into an agonizing whisper.
Sebastian's jaw tightened, his Adam's apple bobbing sharply.
He opened his mouth several times, but the words refused to come.
It was exactly as she said.
Once the stock transfer was complete, the baby served absolutely no purpose to his empire.
He had no reason to keep her.
He and Helena had already signed The Divorce Agreement; they were just waiting for the final legal formalities.
He could easily hand the child over.
After all, the baby likely wasn't going to survive anyway.
But now, he found himself entirely unable to make that promise.
It felt as though agreeing to it would sever the final invisible thread keeping Helena tied to him.
It was a decision he had made long ago.
Yet now, he hesitated.
Ultimately, he remained silent.
He just let her grip his arm with her trembling fingers.
"Please, I just want to take her away," she pleaded again.
She didn't care about anything else in the world, just repeating those desperate words.
"Focus on getting better first," he finally said, his tone flat.
Helena seemed to process his words.
The sorrow in her eyes deepened into something hollow and profound.
And then, she slipped back into a coma right in front of him.
He immediately called for The Doctor.
The Doctor rushed in to examine her.
Throughout the entire ordeal, Sebastian stood to the side, his brows furrowed in heavy tension.
"She was just awake. Why did she pass out again?" he demanded sharply.
After finishing the check-up, The Doctor turned to him. "She doesn't have a strong subjective will to wake up. But this is progress, much better than a deep, continuous coma. Her periods of consciousness should gradually lengthen."
Perhaps it was this overwhelming dread that quickly forced her mind to shut down again.
Only this time, her sleep was restless.
Trapped in a nightmare, she could vividly sense him lingering by her side.
She couldn't relax; her entire body remained rigid.
"No... please, let me go..." she mumbled brokenly in her sleep.
Her eyes remained squeezed shut.
But she could feel the undeniable strength of his hand.
He had completely enveloped her fragile hand within his palm.
She couldn't move an inch.
Her breathing grew rapid and panicked.
She could hear hurried footsteps echoing around her.
And the hushed, urgent exchange between Sebastian and The Doctor.
"I need her awake!" Sebastian commanded authoritatively.
