Julian was somewhat confused by her words.
But Helena's gaze was unwavering.
Yet, it was impossible to guess what she was planning to do.
"I'll stay with you," Julian said softly, his demeanor calm.
Helena stared at him intently, her silence leaving it unclear if she wanted to refuse.
Finally, she nodded. "Okay."
Having him around would at least give her some peace of mind.
For some reason, a wave of profound unease washed over her.
It felt like the suffocating dread that always preceded a devastating truth.
"Get some rest. It's late," he urged gently. "We can deal with everything else tomorrow."
She murmured in agreement.
She was still trying to figure out how to tell him.
Even as she returned to her room, she couldn't bring herself to say it.
Julian didn't press her for answers.
He simply grabbed his clothes and headed into the bathroom for a shower.
When he stepped out, she was leaning quietly against the headboard, her eyes following his movements.
"Back at the hotel, a waitress handed me a note," Helena said quietly. "She said she was Rhonda Ross's sister, Rosalie, and told me to contact her. I didn't understand at first, but now it makes sense. Rhonda was the nursing intern."
He frowned slightly at this. "Are you looking for her because of Hope?"
He had already seen the video Lance James had sent him.
"Yes," she replied. "If it was just a routine recording of the surgery, she wouldn't have sought me out. But it was all so rushed, and she left before she could explain."
"I'll go with you," he stated firmly.
He knew exactly how much Hope meant to her.
Because of that, he was afraid she might do something reckless.
And he was terrified something might happen to her.
"Okay. Thank you," she whispered.
Julian offered a gentle smile as he climbed into bed. "Stop overthinking. Get some sleep."
