He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 5

Sebastian collapsed onto the couch, ignoring her question.

Helena hung up his jacket herself and asked again, "Sebastian, I saw the news. You took Ms. Ramirez to the hospital. Is she pregnant?"

"Helena, Janetta is a public figure. Stop repeating baseless rumors. It's bad for her and it impacts the company," he retorted impatiently, barely lifting his eyelids.

"I just want to know why you had to personally escort her to the hospital," she pressed, refusing to back down. "She has an assistant, a manager, and PR staff from the company. No matter how you look at it, she didn't need you there."

Every word was logical. Every word was crystal clear.

Sebastian frowned, clearly not expecting her to talk back.

He stood up and walked over to her, his gaze turning terrifyingly somber.

"She was working late on a shoot and collapsed from exhaustion. As the head of The Hayes Corporation, it was my absolute duty to be there."

Helena knit her brows, but before she could speak, his fingers clamped around her chin.

"When I got there, she was hemorrhaging. Isn't it basic human instinct to save a life first?" His voice dropped another degree. "You've really disappointed me, Helena."

He finished his sentence with a heavy, mocking scoff.

He released her abruptly.

Helena stumbled slightly, a complex storm of emotions swirling in her eyes.

She just stared at him in silence.

In the past, if he was angry, she would apologize.

But now, she felt nothing but suspicion toward every word he said.

Married for seven years, she had endured seven years of his tabloid affairs.

Every single time, she had lied to herself, convinced it was just PR.

Now, it seemed that wasn't the case.

Especially after finding that ultrasound report today. Her woman's intuition was screaming at her.

"What's wrong with you now?" he noticed her unusual demeanor.

She was too quiet.

Even her gaze was disturbingly calm.

He had never seen her like this before, prompting him to ask.
