He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 55

Sebastian was utterly paralyzed with shock.

He never imagined Helena was pregnant too.

His mind flashed back to the times they had been intimate recently—the times he had taken her so roughly she bled.

He remembered her pale face and her expressions of sheer agony.

A sudden jolt of adrenaline shot through him. He shot up from his chair, snatched his car keys, and sprinted out the door.

The senior executives waiting in his office exchanged bewildered glances.

Even Carter was momentarily stunned.

Glancing down at the open folder on the desk, Carter caught sight of Helena's lab results and fell completely silent.

So that's why the boss was rushing out like a madman. Helena was pregnant.

With both Helena and Janetta expecting, things were about to become an absolute nightmare.

Knowing better than to speculate, Carter quickly shooed the executives out of the room.

Sebastian drove toward Helena's apartment like a demon let loose.

He pushed the engine to its absolute limit, blowing past countless red lights.

He narrowly avoided several catastrophic collisions, but he didn't care.

Finally, with a piercing screech of tires gripping the asphalt, the black SUV slammed to a halt outside her rundown apartment building.

Sebastian charged up the stairs.

"Helena, open the door!" he roared, pounding his fists against the wood.

There was dead silence from inside.

A frustrated neighbor finally threw their door open. "Keep it down! People are trying to live here! Helena isn't home!"

The shout managed to snap Sebastian back to reality. He immediately dialed Carter and ordered him to track her location.

Five minutes later, Sebastian was racing back downstairs and speeding straight toward the hospital.

Helena was there.

Having just walked out of the ultrasound room, Helena headed toward the nearby nurses' station to retrieve her printed report.

During the scan, the doctor had warmly assured her that the baby was a fighter, clinging tightly to its mother.

He had firmly advised her to avoid any extreme emotional stress.

No matter how resilient the baby was, it couldn't survive constant trauma.

Her immediate thought was to lie, to hide the truth at all costs.

But the confrontation was so sudden she couldn't formulate a single believable excuse.

"Helena! Answer me!" Sebastian tightened his crushing grip.

He forcefully lifted her off the ground. The terror in her eyes magnified as her pupils dilated in pure panic.

The doctor's warning echoed in her ears—she absolutely could not afford another accident.

"What is that?" Sebastian demanded, his sharp gaze locking onto the paper crumpled in her hand.

Realizing it was a medical document regarding her pregnancy, he finally dropped her back to her feet.

"No—!" Helena gasped, lunging frantically to snatch it back.

But Sebastian was faster. He already had the paper held up in front of him. A second later, his entire demeanor shifted from bad to apocalyptic.

If he had looked furious before, he now resembled the Grim Reaper himself, marching straight out of hell to collect a soul.

Helena trembled violently, too terrified to breathe.

Sebastian slowly turned the piece of paper around and shoved it in her face.
