He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 64

The aggressive, merciless tone of his interrogation left Helena staring at him in sheer disbelief.

"Sebastian, in your eyes, everything I do has some malicious ulterior motive, doesn't it?" she asked, her voice steadying as her initial panic cooled into bitter resignation.

He didn't answer, but his icy silence was as good as an admission.

"What exactly could I threaten you with? Are you terrified I'll demand to keep the title of Mrs. Hayes? I am not that pathetic!" she snapped.

It wasn't that she wasn't furious, nor was she devoid of emotion. But she remembered the doctor's strict warnings about keeping her stress levels down for the sake of the fragile life inside her.

She had thought she was already numb to his cruelty. He always played the judge and executioner, handing down verdicts without trial. Yet hearing those vile accusations spill from his lips still felt like a punch to the gut. She wondered how many more times he would trample her sincerity into the dirt.

"If you had no motive, then why hide it? Do you really think I'm an idiot, Helena?" he scoffed, his lips curling into a cruel sneer.

The barrage of accusations crashed down on her, suffocating and relentless.

"Ever since Janetta got pregnant, you've been scheming non-stop. You're either trying to provoke her or putting on an act in front of me. Your goal has always been to keep me chained to you. You even weaponized the word 'divorce' to threaten me. And you still have the nerve to play the victim?" Sebastian's rage boiled over, blinding him to all reason.

Every word he spat was a jagged blade slicing through her chest, devastatingly cruel.

"And now you hide a pregnancy from me? Are you really going to tell me it wasn't so you could use the kid as leverage later?" He let out a dark, mocking laugh. "Helena, you absolutely disgust me."
