Having delivered his ultimatum, Sebastian offered no further explanation.
He focused his attention on the road, driving steadily forward.
Helena didn't bother arguing with him either; throwing a tantrum inside a moving car was pointless.
She wasn't stupid enough to play games with her own safety.
Once she had calmed down sufficiently, she pulled out her phone and dialed Skye's number.
The call barely rang before Skye's sweet, soft voice answered, "Mommy..."
There was a distinct, syrupy tone of flattery in her voice, accompanied by a nervous little giggle.
Helena knew her daughter far too well—that specific tone meant the little girl was feeling intensely guilty.
"Where exactly are you?" Helena asked bluntly.
Skye cleared her throat awkwardly. "Well, um, you see, the thing is..."
She was frantically stalling for a good excuse.
After all, making a major decision without asking first was something she knew would get her in trouble.
But the temptation of Disneyland had simply been too overwhelming, and since she didn't dislike Sebastian or Kyle, she had agreed without a second thought.
"Skye!" Helena's voice dropped, carrying a stern warning.
Just then, she heard Kyle's voice echoing through the speaker.
"Auntie, Skye is right here with me. We're at the hotel right now. Daddy said he was going to pick you up. Did he find you?" Kyle asked helpfully.
Helena fell completely silent.
She simply couldn't bring herself to unleash her anger on the children.
They were entirely innocent in this.
If Sebastian hadn't orchestrated this, Kyle never could have pulled it off on his own.
More importantly, Helena knew her daughter well enough to realize Skye had gone along with it willingly.
She took a deep breath to steady herself. "Kyle, put Skye back on the phone."
"Okay!" Kyle chirped cheerfully.
He quickly handed the device back to Skye.
But before Helena could even get a word out, Skye blurted, "Mommy, I'm totally fine and super safe! We're almost at the hotel now, talk to you later!"
And with that, the little girl immediately hung up the phone.
She didn't give her mother even a fraction of a second to reply.
