He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 686

Helena's lips parted slightly.

Several times, she desperately wanted to explain herself.

But under the crushing weight of the situation, the words simply died in her throat.

"You were like this in the past, and you're still exactly the same now. When you stubbornly insisted on marrying him back then, Lance and I begged you not to, but you wouldn't listen. Do you need me to remind you how that ended? Have you forgotten what happened when you were pregnant with Skye? Have you forgotten how Wynn Wallace died? Are you really so determined to throw your life away again that you'd still follow him?" Julian's voice grew increasingly agitated.

Helena let out a heavy, silent sigh.

She entirely understood where his explosive anger was coming from.

She was also acutely aware that Sebastian was listening to every single word.

No matter what she said right now, it would be the wrong answer.

Finally, she replied as calmly as she could, "I'll call you back later."

Whether Julian actually heard her or just ignored her, he immediately fired back, "Lena, come back to Coralia with me right now."

She paused for a second. "I have to pick up Skye first."

This time, it was Julian's turn to fall dead silent.

She pushed forward, "Skye is at Disneyland, so I have to go get her."

"Did he take her?" Julian demanded bluntly.

"Yes," she admitted, offering no excuses.

The heavy silence stretched across the line once more.

Julian wasn't blind; he knew full well how much Skye adored Sebastian.

But he could never bring himself to openly trash the man in front of the little girl.

Because of that, Skye was blissfully unaware of the dark, twisted history between them.

Given the circumstances, there was absolutely nothing Julian could say to stop this.

Suddenly, a thick, suffocating quiet settled between the two ends of the call.

Keeping one hand on the steering wheel, Sebastian shot a sideways glance at Helena.

When her silence dragged on a second too long, he simply reached over and disconnected the call himself.

He didn't even give her a fraction of a second to react.

He calmly tossed her phone onto the center console.

Helena instantly whipped her head around to glare at him.
