He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 755

Sebastian quickly got dressed and walked out of the room with effortless grace.

Once the door clicked shut behind him, Helena began to shake uncontrollably.

He hadn't been there during those pitch-black years after she first woke up from her coma.

She had barely survived, heavily reliant on anxiety medication, constant visits from the therapist, and 24-hour supervision.

Back then, all she wanted to do was die.

It was only when Julian realized how rapidly she was deteriorating that he finally caved and told her the truth about Skye.

That revelation had been her only lifeline.

Now, she was plunging headfirst right back into that bottomless terror.

Knowing what that darkness felt like only made the prospect of returning to it infinitely more horrifying.

Her face was a ghostly white.

She clawed desperately at the edge of the mattress.

Her knuckles turned a sickly pale from the force.

She frantically wanted her pills, but they were nowhere to be found.

It felt as if fate itself had decided she didn't deserve to live.

How could she not be swallowed by despair?

A hollow, broken laugh spilled from her lips.

It was barely a whisper, empty and frail.

Right then, Julian called again.

Maybe he suspected something was wrong earlier, or maybe it was something else entirely.

It had only been half an hour since they last spoke.

She didn't ignore it this time. She answered silently.

But she didn't speak.

Julian didn't say anything right away, either.

A heavy, suffocating quiet hung over the line.

Finally, she broke the silence.

"Lena, please just calm down. Be good. Don't do anything reckless, and don't pick a fight with him. I'm flying back right now," he ordered firmly.

This time, she reacted.

A faint, ghostly chuckle echoed through the receiver.

Julian knew that sound. It wasn't relief.

It was a sign she was snapping.

Before he could say another word, she beat him to it.

"Julian, let's get a divorce. Okay?" she pleaded.

"I've already let everyone down, and I refuse to fail Skye again. I can't even acknowledge her publicly. She's completely innocent. She shouldn't have to suffer like this. I can't use her life as a bargaining chip... I just can't take that gamble," she sobbed, her voice thick with suppressed agony.

She had been pushed completely past her breaking point.

She had never imagined that, after all these years, she would find herself ensnared by Sebastian's cruelty all over again.

The paralyzing dread was crushing the air right out of her lungs.

Julian caught on instantly. "Lena, did Sebastian force you into this?"
