He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 756

She didn't answer.

But it was the truth.

He was forcing her hand.

Yes, the choice was technically hers, but did she really have any room to maneuver? None.

She had been systematically hunted into a corner with zero chance of escape.

She was entirely broken.

Helena stayed silent, fading into a catatonic quiet.

"Lena..." Julian called out again.

She abruptly cut him off. "Julian, I know what you're trying to do, but I just can't risk it. I know the success rate for her surgery is abysmally low, but if Dr. Lynch does it, he guarantees a 70 percent chance. I cannot let that go. Every time I think about what she went through when she was born, I can't forgive myself. You know that, right? If it wasn't for me, she wouldn't be suffering like this now. Am I wrong?"

The words poured out of her, drenched in absolute devastation.

"Lena." His tone remained frustratingly calm.

"Sebastian doesn't hold all the cards here. Don't forget, you have The Hayes Corporation by the throat. There's no way he's just going to let his empire burn, right?" he reminded her, trying to inject some logic into her panic.

She didn't relax in the slightest.

She knew that already, of course.

She let out another weak, miserable laugh. "Julian, I can't take that bet. Don't you understand?"

She understood Sebastian far too well.

He was the kind of man who would stroll straight into a tiger's den without blinking.

That alone proved he was holding a trump card.

But she had no idea what sick contingency plan he had up his sleeve.

When the dust settled, she would be the one left ruined, not him.

And she would have destroyed Skye's only chance at life in the process.

He stared at the disconnected call, a hard knot of tension twisting in his gut.

It was an anxiety that simply couldn't be smoothed away.

Without a second thought, he immediately ordered Jensen Shaw to book the next flight back to Coralia.

Upon receiving the order, Jensen stormed right into the suite to confront his boss.

"Mr. Campbell, you have to be here for what happens next. You can't just fly back. If you abandon this trip now, it's going to trigger a disastrous chain reaction," Jensen warned him bluntly.

"I know you're worried about your wife, but as long as Skye is with her, she won't do anything crazy."

"If you recklessly abandon your duties and fly back now, won't you just be painting a target on her back? The Campbell family elders already despise her. If they find out you blew off a critical business deal over this, what do you think they'll do to her?"

Jensen laid out the cold, hard logic to bring him back to his senses.

Julian's brow furrowed tightly.

He really had to weigh the pros and cons of the situation here.
