He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 823

It was impossible to say she wasn't entirely nervous.

Condensation beaded heavily down the sides of the cup.

Her palms were completely slick.

She couldn't tell if it was sweat or just the melting ice.

But under his penetrating stare, she could already sense what was coming.

He had likely figured it out.

He just didn't have solid proof, so he was cornering her into a confession.

When he finally spoke, his voice was deadly serious.

"So, Helena... who exactly are you?"

He laid all his cards on the table.

She let out a soft laugh. "Helena Wallace. I assumed you would have investigated me thoroughly by now."

He didn't say a word.

They were separated by nothing more than a tiny square table; physically close, yet worlds apart.

The psychological chasm between them was maddeningly vast.

The very air around them seemed to thicken and stall.

"If that's all, I'm heading back," she said, cutting the conversation short.

She meant returning to her own apartment, not lingering in a hotel with him.

His dark gaze locked onto her. "We're staying right here. I need to ensure you're clean."

His demand was arrogant and absolute.

Refusing to argue, she simply stood up with calm composure.

His eyes tracked her every move.

Unbothered, she pulled out her phone right in front of him and called The Driver.

His gaze darkened significantly at the gesture.

Only after finishing the call did she look back at him.

"You don't care about Skye Campbell anymore? Dr. Solomon Lynch has already arrived in Coralia," he remarked casually.

She met his stare evenly. "Sebastian, if we stay cooped up here and leave the kids alone in my apartment, we could be arrested for negligence."

It was unclear whether she was agreeing to his demands or rejecting them entirely.

But her words served to ease the suffocating tension between them.

He let out a low chuckle. "Fine."

She gave no further response.

They stepped into the elevator, one after the other.

Fortunately, it was empty.
