Without a change in demeanor, he casually used Kyle's phone to chat with Helena.
Kyle: [Helena, my dad is coming tomorrow too.]
Sebastian waited a moment before seeing the typing indicator pop up in Helena's chat box.
It flickered on and off, but no text came through.
After a brief silence, Sebastian sent a second message before she could respond.
Kyle: [Helena, my dad actually likes you a lot.]
At that, the typing indicator vanished completely.
Sebastian didn't mind.
Kyle: [Helena, did I say something wrong? I'm sorry...]
This time, Helena finally replied.
Helena: [Don't overthink it. Get some sleep, we have a big day of playing tomorrow, right?]
Kyle: [Okay.]
Helena: [Goodnight.]
Kyle: [Goodnight.]
When Helena didn't send anything else, Sebastian set the phone aside.
He had a sinking feeling that Helena was actively dodging the topic rather than outright denying it.
If that weren't the case, she wouldn't have been so delightfully ambiguous.
Sebastian lowered his head, lost in thought.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. It was a call from Carter Miles.
While he was in Coralia, Carter would never call at this hour unless it was absolutely critical.
After a moment of hesitation, Sebastian grabbed his phone and calmly stepped out of Kyle's room.
Out in the living room, he answered the call.
"Mr. Hayes," Carter's voice came through urgently. "The DNA test results are out."
Sebastian's grip on the phone tightened slightly before he asked with forced calm, "What's the verdict?"
Carter paused, as if weighing his next words carefully.
Then, he spoke. "Mr. Hayes, the sample Mr. Sterling provided has absolutely no relation to the Madam."
His gaze grew overwhelmingly dark.
He didn't even need to test this new Helena; he was practically certain they were the same woman.
His Helena hadn't died all those years ago.
Julian had taken her away.
That was why Julian had married her so fiercely, regardless of the consequences.
And why The Campbell Family had stayed suspiciously quiet.
It explained why Helena and Lance James shared such an intimate bond.
At the thought, Sebastian took a deep, ragged breath.
It was as if he was trying to forcefully suppress the wild storm of emotions surging within him.
He wanted to confront her right now.
But he was terrified of a disappointing answer.
Yet, the violent urge continued to claw at his chest, a messy knot of conflict and complexity.
He wanted Helena to admit it herself.
