It took a long time for Sebastian to regain his composure.
He stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, faintly making out the quiet balcony of Helena's apartment across the way.
He just stood there, staring.
Beau Sterling, having already heard the news, texted him.
Beau: [Is Helena really alive?]
Sebastian: [Yes.]
Beau: [Is this new Helena actually her?]
Sebastian: [Yes.]
Beau fell silent on his end, probably at a total loss for what to ask next.
After a long pause, Beau called him.
"If she really is Helena, what are you going to do?" Beau asked quietly.
Sebastian didn't answer, clearly lost in thought.
Even Beau wasn't sure how to keep the conversation going.
No one had expected Helena to still be alive.
And certainly not living right under their noses in this manner.
Everyone remembered the events of that year vividly.
Driven by her deeply rooted feud with Janetta, Helena had supposedly rammed her car into her.
Janetta had pressed charges.
But everyone knew that if Helena had just refused to confess, the charges would never have stuck.
After all, they were in Riverton.
It was Sebastian's territory, and he held enough power to bury the sun.
Yet Helena had pleaded guilty immediately.
She hadn't given Sebastian a single chance to intervene.
Everyone knew Helena had never intended to walk away with her life.
