What was Sebastian planning?
Helena couldn't bear to think about it.
She shot up from the sofa.
The fragile peace she had managed to build over the past month completely shattered.
For years, she had believed Wynn was dead.
They were twins and had been inseparable since birth.
Even though the Wallace family heavily favored sons over daughters, it never affected their bond.
Wynn always saved his favorite snacks and toys for her.
She was small and easily bullied, but Wynn would always be the first to throw himself into the fray to protect her.
Back when their parents racked up massive gambling debts, ruthless debt collectors had come for blood. Wynn had hidden her beneath the floorboards, sacrificing himself to draw the killers away.
Helena survived, but Wynn was subjected to horrific violence.
Even now, the memory of his agonizing screams haunted her nightmares.
But even through the torture, Wynn never gave up her hiding spot.
After marrying Sebastian, she had mentioned the tragedy to him, but he had never taken it seriously.
He didn't love her, so why would he care about her dead brother?
Given the sheer brutality of the attack and the absolute lack of news over the years, Helena had eventually accepted that he was gone.
Yet here he was, alive on the television screen.
Her heart raced. Her first instinct was to run out, find him, touch him, and make sure he was actually breathing.
But logic quickly slammed into her.
She couldn't.
This was Sebastian's ultimate trap to force her out of hiding.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to calm down.
Sebastian only cared about the baby in her stomach. As long as she stayed hidden, Wynn was a valuable bargaining chip and would remain safe.
A suffocating tension hung over the executive floor, infecting everyone in its path.
Sebastian's office had become a no-go zone.
Even Carter Miles was getting chewed out on an hourly basis, not to mention the other executives.
When Janetta tried to visit him, she was met with a vicious roar: "Get out!"
Startled, her eyes immediately welled with tears. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have interrupted you."
She spun around to run out of the office.
Realizing it was Janetta, Sebastian cursed under his breath and quickly pulled her back.
"I'm sorry. I'm in a terrible mood. I shouldn't have snapped at you," he apologized, massaging his temples.
"It's okay," Janetta murmured softly. "I know you're worried about Lena. She's heavily pregnant and just vanished. But no news is good news, right?"
Every word she spoke sounded perfectly empathetic, entirely devoid of malice, as if she was sharing his burden.
"Lena is so gentle. She'll take good care of the baby. She's just throwing a tantrum because of me," Janetta sighed, lowering her head. "If it wasn't for our situation, she wouldn't have run off. In the end, I'm the one dragging you down."
