He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 86

The issues between Sebastian and Helena were entirely their own.

Yet here Janetta was, taking all the blame upon herself.

Sebastian felt a pang of guilt.

To him, Janetta was always so considerate, constantly putting his needs first, no matter the situation.

Meanwhile, Helena was pushing her luck.

Coupled with the fact that his men had turned Riverton upside down for a month and found absolutely nothing, his patience was completely frayed.

"This has nothing to do with you. Stop overthinking it," he coaxed her gently.

Janetta leaned into him. "Seb, I had my chef slow-cook some chicken soup for you tonight. Will you come over and have some?"

Before Sebastian could answer, his phone buzzed. It was his security lead.

His eyes darkened, and he answered immediately.

Janetta stayed quiet, but she instinctively knew it had to be about Helena.

The thought irritated her to no end, but she kept a mask of deep concern plastered on her face.

"Mr. Hayes, we spotted her! She's on Cypress Road!" the bodyguard's urgent voice came through the speaker.

"I'm on my way," Sebastian snapped without a second thought.

He hung up, grabbed his car keys, and bolted toward the door.

"Seb!" Janetta called out, stunned. She tried to follow him.

But he was already moving too fast. He stepped into the private elevator, and the doors slid shut before she even had a chance.

Carter Miles quickly stepped up. "Ms. Ramirez, I'll have someone drive you home."

"Alright. Thank you," Janetta nodded, realizing there was no point in chasing him.

But her gaze lingered on the closed elevator doors, her eyes narrowing.
