Read Chapter 110 of He Never Noticed Me Until I Loved Someone Else novel online to discover whether Jarrod can win Stella’s heart back, or whether he has realized her true worth when it is already too late.
They hit a red light. Jarrod stepped on the brake, turning his head slightly to look at Stella, a low scoff escaping his lips. "In your eyes, am I really so cold-blooded that I wouldn't even show respect to an elderly woman?"
Stella shook her head, her tone earnest. "I've never thought that. I know you're a decent man with good manners. My grandmother was so happy that day, and I am genuinely grateful to you."
Looking into her clear almond eyes, Jarrod saw only total sincerity. He didn't push it.
The light turned green. Jarrod kept his hands casually on the wheel, eyes on the road, and asked in a seemingly offhand tone.
"Do you throw out apologies and thank-yous to that Logan guy you grew up with, too?"
Stella blinked, startled.
She hadn't expected Jarrod to randomly bring up Logan.
It was completely different from that night at the club when she had gone to pick up a drunk Logan, and Jarrod had gripped her wrist with blistering sarcasm and cold fury. Right now, Jarrod seemed entirely indifferent, as if he were just making idle conversation.
But Stella couldn't quite decipher the meaning behind his words.
After all, the last time she pissed Jarrod off at the club, the Quinn family suffered a major blow the very next day. News of Jarrod publicly taking Chloe out of the country resulted in a vicious slap from George.
Then came the divorce papers, and the Quinn business was forced to terminate their partnership with the Fullers.
If she misspoke again today, would that be the final nail in the coffin for her and the Quinn family?
"Is it that hard to answer?" Jarrod cast a calm, unbothered glance her way.
"No."
Stella weighed her words carefully before answering his previous question. "I wouldn't. But just like you and Julian, Logan and I have known each other since we were kids. There are a lot of things where we wouldn't bother apologizing or thanking each other, and neither of us would think twice about it."
Jarrod easily caught the underlying meaning in her words and noticed how carefully she had chosen them.
She had even used him and Julian as an analogy, deliberately downplaying her childhood bond with Logan.
Jarrod couldn't quite pinpoint why he had even brought Logan up in the first place.
Stella quickly did the mental math; Jasper was indeed turning seventeen.
Usually, picking out a gift in advance and presenting it to the person was the proper way to show sincerity. Who just picked the kid up and dragged him to the store like Jarrod?
"Picking it out himself guarantees he gets what he actually wants. He's done with classes for the afternoon, so we'll grab dinner with him while we're at it."
As if reading her mind, Jarrod offered a calm explanation.
"Oh." Stella nodded, stretching her neck to scan the main gate for any sign of Jasper.
Just then, a security guard wandered over and tapped on the window. "First time picking up your kid, you two? The kindergarten parking lot is over that way."
Following the guard's pointing finger, Stella noticed an exclusive private kindergarten a short distance across the street, lined with luxury cars.
"Thank you, but we're waiting for someone right here," Jarrod said coolly.
Perhaps having nothing better to do, the guard kept chatting them up like they were old friends. "Do you guys have kids yet? With a couple as gorgeous as you two, your child is going to be absolutely stunning!"
