She was allergic to guava. Once, when she and Logan had been out on a date, she had accidentally swallowed half a glass of guava juice and broke out in hives almost instantly.
It had terrified Logan, and he had rushed her straight to the hospital.
Her face had been swollen and red for days, and she'd had to take medication for a while to recover.
Ever since then, Logan had memorized all her allergies and vehemently kept her away from guava.
Right now, was he stopping Skylar because she was also allergic, or... because he had subconsciously remembered Stella?
A lump formed in Stella's throat at the thought, tears threatening to well up in her eyes.
"Logan, are you getting things mixed up again?"
Skylar snapped out of her daze and whined playfully, "My allergies were back in high school. I took supplements to improve my constitution, and I've been fine for ages. Didn't I tell you that last time?"
Logan rubbed his temples. "Yeah. Seeing you about to drink it just threw me off for a second."
So Skylar really used to be allergic to guava too.
A wave of disappointment washed over Stella.
Even though she had decided to let Logan go, seeing that familiar look of panic on his face still stirred something deep within her.
"It's okay. It just shows how much you care about me, always keeping me in your thoughts," Skylar said affectionately.
A devilish smirk appeared on Logan's handsome face. "Is that right? I'd rather just keep you in my bed."
"Stop it. It's the middle of the day... Stella?"
Skylar was lightly smacking Logan's chest when she looked up and spotted her. "What a coincidence. You're here for lunch too? Are you by yourself?"
Hearing Skylar's greeting, Logan lifted his gaze.
Stella had already composed her expression. She offered a polite smile. "No. I'm waiting for someone."
"I had no idea you two were here. This was just a coincidence," Stella quickly added, afraid Logan might think she was still trying to stalk him.
Logan furrowed his brow.
"Wow, it sounds like you're on great terms with the Fuller family, having lunch with his brother and all!" Skylar continued to pry playfully.
"I'm going to wait for him over there. I won't bother you two any longer."
Stella had no desire to keep up the awkward small talk, so she quickly walked away to a table far from them.
Logan stared at Stella's slender figure as she retreated, suddenly feeling that same dull, suffocating ache in his chest he had experienced before.
He rubbed at his heart, trying to suppress the discomfort.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling sick again? Should we skip lunch and go back to the hospital?" Skylar asked anxiously.
Logan shook his head, offering a comforting smile. "I'm fine. Probably just hungry since I skipped breakfast."
Skylar leaned against his arm, gazing up at him adoringly. "Logan, I love you so much," she cooed.
Logan ate up the affection. He gave her a wicked grin and pressed a kiss to her lips. "I'm your man. Who else are you supposed to love?"
