Once Lucca and his crew were gone, Aria stared at their retreating backs for a few seconds before her expression finally relaxed.
"What's up? Do you know those rich guys?"
Cassidy walked over to Stella, noticing her lingering gaze, and asked curiously.
"I somewhat know one of them," Stella replied.
"They were definitely here for that beer promoter. Flaunting their cash, treating the poor girl like a stray cat to toy with."
Cassidy suddenly sighed in admiration. "In comparison, I actually think Mr. Fuller is a great guy. He's rich, powerful, and gorgeous. If he wanted to mess around, he'd have an army of women throwing themselves at him."
Ever since Jarrod publicly claimed Stella as his wife in the elevator, Cassidy had been viewing him through rose-colored glasses, convinced he could do no wrong.
Stella glanced at Cassidy, too exhausted to even bring up Chloe.
But Cassidy caught her look and immediately rushed to his defense. "I bet Director Huxley and Mr. Fuller are strictly professional! All those pregnancy rumors are definitely just a hoax!"
Stella said nothing. Since Jarrod hadn't shown his face in days, she hadn't had the chance to bring it up with him.
By the time Stella and Cassidy sat down, their coworkers had already ordered the food. A few promoters approached the table to pitch their beers.
Aria was one of them. Stella glanced at the timid girl and ordered a dozen bottles from her.
Aria shot her a grateful smile. "Thank you, miss."
After that, Stella and her colleagues ate and drank in a completely relaxed atmosphere. Having worked together for so long, everyone was comfortable. No one treated Stella any differently just because she was Mrs. Fuller.
It wasn't until later, when the drinks had thoroughly kicked in, that someone joked she better not forget her old buddies when she made it big.
After asking around, she finally tracked him down at a private club, hanging out with his friends. The friends pressured her into drinking.
She had taken one sip and started coughing violently from the burn, turning bright red. In the chaos, she scuffed Lucca's shoes. Terrified and disoriented, she was shoved by one of his friends and fell right into Lucca's lap.
She ran away immediately afterward, losing her job anyway.
She had only recently landed this beer promotion gig, completely unaware that Lucca's friends would spot her here. And tonight, Lucca had shown up with them.
"I haven't even graduated from college yet, and my family is struggling financially. I just want to work hard and make money. I don't dare mess with people like them."
Aria's voice trembled timidly. "But they seem to have the wrong idea about me. I saw that you knew Mr. Sterling earlier, so I took the liberty of asking you for a favor."
Stella nodded, just about to reply, when her phone suddenly rang. To her shock, Jarrod's name flashed across the screen.
