Jarrod stood a short distance away, his dark, predatory gaze fixed on them, radiating a suffocating aura of cold fury.

Stella was currently pinned against Logan, her wrists still securely in his grip, their faces only inches apart—

Her mind completely blanked. She couldn't process a single thought.

All she could do was stare at Jarrod with wide, terrified eyes.

"Get off."

It wasn't until Logan shoved her away with a look of utter disgust that the trance broke.

Stella slowly gathered her senses and awkwardly scrambled up from the ground.

"Logan!"

Just then, Skylar came rushing over in a panic, frantically checking him over. "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"Jarrod, you're here."

Almost at the exact same moment Skylar threw herself at Logan, George walked out and warmly greeted Jarrod.

"Stella just mentioned she was coming out to meet you. Perfect timing!"

With that, George turned to Stella, noticing the dirt clinging to her clothes. He frowned. "Stella, weren't you coming out to greet Jarrod? How did you end up falling?"

By now, Stella's mind was slowly coming back online.

She had only come outside to talk to Logan alone, to remind him of their past face-to-face.

But Logan's icy, ruthless rejection had shattered her composure, causing her to lose her mind...

Even though there was absolutely nothing romantic going on between her and Logan, they had fallen in a tangle, and her lips had accidentally pressed against his cheek. She had no idea what Jarrod must be thinking after seeing that.

Jarrod's face was an unreadable mask, his dark eyes completely devoid of emotion.

Meanwhile, George's expression appeared warm and fatherly on the surface, but a flash of deep irritation and warning lurked in his eyes.

Skylar wrapped her arm around Logan's waist. "Let's go!"

As they walked past Jarrod, Skylar gave him a polite nod, but Logan aggressively grabbed her chin and turned her face back to him. "What are you looking at? Hoping to marry him instead?"

"You get jealous over everything! You already know exactly who has my heart!"

As the couple walked away, Jarrod cast a lazy, indifferent glance at Logan, noticing the faint beauty mark by the corner of the man's eye.

From the moment Logan got up from the ground until he left, he hadn't spared Stella a single glance, nor did he show an ounce of curiosity toward Jarrod.

"Jarrod, please excuse the scene. Logan is the son of an old friend of mine. He's always been a bit brash in how he speaks and acts."

George chuckled to smooth things over. "He brought his girlfriend over specifically to see me today, and he ends up getting knocked over by Stella just coming out for a smoke! Look at him, he's so annoyed he won't even stay for dinner."

Jarrod remained silent, his gaze shifting to Stella.

She stood there with her head bowed, faint, dark shadows bruising the skin under her eyes. She looked incredibly fragile, as if a strong breeze could knock her over, her thin shoulders slumped in defeat.
