Summer didn't look back. She told the driver to go, leaving Lucca's figure shrinking in the rearview mirror.

The car fell into silence. Stella held Summer's hand, purposely not trying to force a conversation to comfort her. Some emotions just had to be processed alone.

About ten minutes later, Summer finally calmed down.

Stella learned that Summer had taken a red-eye flight that morning and tracked Lucca down using his phone's location sharing.

Back when things were good, Lucca had insisted on putting the tracker on her phone, telling her she was welcome to check up on him anytime.

Summer had always believed she would never need to use it. To her bitter surprise, she did. She had vastly overestimated the strength of their relationship.

After stopping by the hotel to grab their luggage and check out, the group headed straight to the airport.

By the time they landed in Royal Oaks, it was already afternoon. Stella wanted Summer to stay at her place for a few days, but Summer politely declined, saying she needed to wrap up her job and finalize her plans to move abroad.

Stella then dropped Jasper off at his house. Eleanor was home and insisted she stay for afternoon tea.

"Come on, Stella, just sit down and have a bite!" Jasper urged as well.

Seeing that Edward and Serena weren't home, Stella agreed to stay for a bit.

Eleanor ordered the staff to bring out pastries and casually asked if anything had happened to Stella the night before.

"I heard Jarrod rushed off to Ashford in the middle of the night and then flew right back first thing this morning."

Stella couldn't exactly tell Eleanor about last night's mess. As she struggled to come up with an excuse, Jasper, who was busy playing a game nearby, blurted out, "It wasn't anything serious! Jarrod just missed Stella!"

Hearing Eleanor's warning, Stella suddenly recalled the time she saw Silas outside a club with two major industry tycoons. They had looked awfully chummy.

"Eleanor, it would probably be better if you told Jarrod directly. It's not really appropriate coming from me... we're getting a divorce, remember?" Stella pointed out.

Eleanor let out a hearty laugh. "Divorce? What divorce? Anyone with eyes can see Jarrod is smitten with you. Serena's even complained to me a few times that Jarrod always takes your side over hers!"

Stella felt that awkwardness creep back in.

It wasn't because of Eleanor's comment about Jarrod liking her, but rather the mention of Serena complaining.

Serena was Eleanor's daughter, after all, and Stella couldn't help but wonder if Eleanor was secretly holding a grudge against her.

"Don't worry, I'm not blaming you. You've been married into the Fuller family for three years—do you really think I don't know what kind of person you are?" Eleanor said warmly. "Serena is just spoiled rotten by her father. If you two are clashing, it's definitely her fault."
