Stella turned around and saw Summer looking gorgeous in an evening gown.
"Summer!"
"What are you doing here? Are you here for the party too?" Summer looked surprised.
"No."
Stella explained why she was there and briefly mentioned her meeting with Professor Thorne the previous night.
"Logan has always been the type to lock onto something and refuse to let go. Professor Thorne said that if we force the issue, it'll only make his condition worse," Stella said, unable to hide the disappointment in her voice.
Summer patted her shoulder comfortingly. "Take it one step at a time. Who knows, maybe Logan will just snap out of it on his own one day."
Stella nodded.
Right now, she cared more about his health than him getting his memory back.
All she could do was wait.
"Summer, I've got to run. Let's catch up properly soon."
After Stella left, Lucca strolled over with a drink in hand and slung an arm around Summer's waist.
"Wasn't that your bestie who married the Fuller family?"
Lucca and Jarrod didn't hang out much, but they ran in the same circles and knew enough about each other.
Summer gave a nod and gave him a quick rundown of Stella asking for her help to track down Professor Thorne.
"That neurologist?" Lucca mused. "Word is he and Jarrod are actually close friends. Why did his wife go through all that trouble to find him instead of just asking her husband?"
Summer looked surprised. "Really?"
But since Stella was looking for the professor for Logan's sake, there was no way she would ask Jarrod for help.
Besides, theirs was a marriage of convenience. Jarrod likely couldn't care less about her affairs.
With that thought, Summer brushed the detail aside.
...
"Tch. Looks like a golden goose, but it's actually a poison pill," Cassidy summarized perfectly.
"I knew Chloe wouldn't let you off the hook that easily," she grumbled.
Stella tried to stay positive. "Just two more months."
Once her marriage with Jarrod ended, Chloe would have no reason to see her as a rival anymore.
"If you ask me, you shouldn't just take this lying down!"
Cassidy crossed her arms. "Forget about the Mrs. Fuller title—you're genuinely amazing at your job. We could just quit and go shine somewhere else!"
Stella's response was firm. "I'm not leaving."
Mythos Online had started as a small indie studio. Logan and two friends had built it from the ground up, and half the core concepts of the game were Logan's brainchildren.
He had planned to go all in and take the company public, but then the accident happened...
Even though Logan didn't remember any of it, Stella was determined to protect his dream.
