Compared to Stella's delicate frame, Seraphina looked striking and commanding in her tailored riding habit.
Her hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail, and she wore a haughty, self-satisfied smirk, practically glowing in the center of her entourage's flattery.
Though Seraphina wasn't George's biological daughter, the sheer amount of favoritism she received vastly eclipsed anything Stella ever got.
Seraphina had never once respected Stella. In private, they treated each other like complete strangers.
Stella paused for a split second, her instinct screaming to turn around and avoid the drama, but she accidentally locked eyes with Seraphina.
Seraphina merely threw her a dismissive glance before turning away, seamlessly continuing her conversation as if she had just looked at an empty space.
Stella's lips twitched slightly. She kept walking, focusing on finding Jasper.
In the free-riding enclosure, a few people were galloping across the field. Stella narrowed her eyes and quickly spotted Jasper among them.
She waved her arms frantically at the fence. Spotting her, Jasper nudged his horse and trotted over.
"Stella, what are you doing here?" Jasper looked genuinely surprised.
Stella leaned against the railing. "Your mom is worried sick. She asked me to take you home."
Jasper immediately balked, whining that he hadn't had nearly enough fun yet and absolutely refused to leave.
Stella pulled out her phone. "Then you call her and tell her yourself."
"No way. Besides, it's not like you guys can catch me!"
Jasper shot her a wicked grin, clicked his tongue at the horse, and took off across the field again.
Obviously, Stella couldn't exactly chase down a galloping horse. She texted Eleanor to reassure her that Jasper was safe for now.
Knowing Jasper was far too hyped up to leave anytime soon, Stella found a quiet bench by the fence to sit and rest.
A while later, as she was texting Summer, a shadow fell over her.
Disgusted and furious, Stella didn't hesitate. She drove her heel sharply into his kneecap!
"You f*cking—"
"Back off!"
Just as the man dropped his 'nice guy' act and lunged forward to retaliate, Jasper's furious shout cut through the air.
He had hopped off his horse at some point and stormed over.
Jasper stood with his hands on his hips, glaring down at the man. "What the hell were you trying to do to my sister-in-law?"
Jasper might not be eighteen yet, but he was already over six feet tall. Standing over the sleazy guy, he looked downright intimidating.
Taking one look at Jasper's expensive riding gear and arrogant posture, the older man knew instantly this was a rich kid he couldn't afford to mess with.
He just wanted to pick up a woman, not create a scene that could ruin him.
