Jarrod wasn't in riding gear. He wore a crisp, tailored casual outfit that made him look effortlessly commanding. Even standing next to a bright, energetic teenager like Jasper, he didn't look the least bit dull.

"Stunned?" Jarrod asked.

Catching the teasing lilt in his voice, Stella quickly averted her gaze and said softly, "Mr. Fuller, I'll take Jasper home now."

"Mhm." Jarrod pointed a finger at Jasper. "If he acts up again, call me."

"Don't worry, Jarrod, I'm an angel."

Jasper grabbed Stella's arm and dragged her away, terrified that if they stayed a second longer, Jarrod would find a reason to lecture him again.

It wasn't until they were completely out of Jarrod's sight that Jasper finally exhaled. "Holy crap, I almost died. Thank god you showed up when you did, Stella, or he definitely would've ended me!"

"Seriously, how terrible is my luck? I sneak out to have a little fun, and I bump into him talking business here?"

Jasper groaned. "And my mom needs to chill out!"

Stella conveniently ignored the phrase 'talking business'. She replied gently, "Look at it from another angle. Having a family that cares so much about your safety is a blessing."

After her mother passed, she didn't really have a family anymore. Her father only cared about Sylvia and Seraphina. Her own brother was solely focused on his academics.

Logan used to look out for her, but he wasn't blood, and even that had its limits...

After dropping Jasper off safely, Stella called Eleanor to update her before taking a cab back to The Sterling Residences.

Exhausted from the day's chaos, she reviewed some work files and went to bed early.

She didn't know how long she had been asleep when she was suddenly pulled into a broad, firm chest.

Jarrod was back, pressing hot, demanding kisses against the sensitive skin of her neck.

What on earth was he provoked by this time?

He had kept her up half the night just two days ago. Why was he acting so insatiable again?

Didn't he work all day? Where was he getting this relentless stamina?

"Focus, Mrs. Fuller."

Jarrod stepped out of the en-suite bathroom, his voice laced with dark satisfaction.

Breathing in the crisp scent of his body wash, Stella suddenly felt too shy to meet his gaze.

"Mr. Fuller, I need to use the restroom."

With that, she lowered her eyes and slipped into the bathroom.

Behind her, she could have sworn she heard his faint, rumbling laugh.

By the time Stella finished freshening up, Jarrod was fully dressed.

His tall, imposing frame was clad in a perfectly tailored black suit. The dark fabric only amplified his devastatingly aloof, untouchable aura.

Seeing her walk out, he strode right up to her and handed her an elegant velvet box.

"What is this?" Stella stared at it, bewildered.
