He Scheduled Me Mon-Wed For Her Thu-Sat For Me novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7

The tinted window rolled up, cutting Adrian’s line of sight off from me.

He stood there and watched the black Cayenne disappear down the road until there was nothing left to see.

Only then did the strange emptiness start to settle in his chest.

The first day after the divorce, Adrian worked from morning to deep

When he finally finished, he rubbed at the ache between his brows and asked, “Why hasn’t dinner been delivered yet?”

He had a bad stomach.

For years, every meal he ate had been prepared by me personally and sent over

I would even stay until I watched him finish it.

Now I was gone.

He had worked straight through the day without a sip of water or a bite of food.

The old familiar cramp in his stomach twisted hard.

He called for his assistant. “Where’s my wife?”

to his office.

The assistant hesitated. ‘Mrs. Sterling left. Did you forget? You and her are divorced.”

Adrian stood there, momentarily lost in thought.

Right.

She was gone.

He returned home that night, only to find the closet, the fridge, and the bathroom all empty.

He stood in the silence of the house and felt like he had walked into a stranger’s life.

Without realizing it, he had grown used to it all: the lights always on, a hot meal waiting at home.

And Audrey, coming toward him every time he walked through the door, smiling as she threw her arms

around him.

He sank to the floor at last, dazed.

Then his hand brushed something in the corner-a letter he picked up, reminding him of the unfinished words

I had tried to say before leaving.

Just as he started to open it, Sienna called out, “Adrian!”

Sienna crossed the room fast and knocked the envelope aside before wrapping herself around him.

“I heard from your assistant you didn’t eat all day. I was so worried about you.”

Adrian frowned and looked toward the letter now lying farther away.

Something sharp and suspicious flashed in his eyes.

He pushed her off. “What are you hiding? You’re not acting like yourself.”

The second he moved to retrieve the envelope again, her eyes went red.

“Fine. I’m jealous, okay?” She lunged, snatched the envelope, and tore it to pieces. “She’s gone and you still can’t let her go?”

“I’ve been with you for five years without a name, a ring, or a place in public. I’m carrying your child, and still

in your mind, I can’t compare to-”

“So.” His voice cut through hers like a knife. “What are you hiding?”

He lifted a second envelope from behind his back and opened it slowly.

“The first time I saw your reaction, I switched them. If you hadn’t panicked this hard, I might not have insisted

on opening it. But your reaction was all wrong.”

He squinted his eyes and lowered his head to examine the letter in his hand.

Once he had read the content clearly, Adrian abruptly stood up, staring in disbelief at the lines of text before

him, reading them over and over again.

His breathing grew increasingly labored, “Impossible!!!”
