Yorath refused to let go until Yves had completely disappeared from view.
Zavier unfolded the scrap of paper, casually tossing it onto the table before slipping it into his pocket.
"Being a public figure is a nightmare sometimes. Everyone assumes we're made of money. It's an endless parade of orphanages, cancer charities, and impoverished families demanding our help. They have no idea we're just glorified employees in the entertainment industry. Even if we emptied our bank accounts, we couldn't save everyone."
Ottilie knew exactly how the industry operated. Most celebrities only threw money at charities when it guaranteed them a glowing PR headline.
When it came to anonymous donations, their wallets snapped shut.
True philanthropy never demanded an audience.
"Charity is entirely voluntary," Yorath remarked coolly. "You give if you want to, based on your own capacity."
Zavier laughed. "The moral grandstanding these days is suffocating. I barely show my face in public anymore... But enough about that. Let's head to the private room. Once they realize you're here, Mr. Fordham, they'll be thrilled."
"Is someone there I'm not expecting?" Yorath asked.
Zavier flashed a cryptic smile. "You'll see when we get inside."
Ottilie's mind was entirely consumed by Yves, completely tuning out their conversation.
When they finished speaking, she finally chimed in, "I need to use the restroom. Go ahead without me."
In an establishment of this caliber, the VIP rooms all had private en-suite bathrooms.
Her excuse was a transparent ploy to slip away.
Zavier saw right through it but wasn't about to cross Yorath, stepping aside to enjoy the show.
Yorath knew exactly what she was doing.
If they had been alone, he would have dragged her back immediately.
But with an outsider present, he wouldn't humiliate her publicly.
Instead, he simply lifted her hand, pressing a tender kiss against her knuckles.
"You're the star of the night, honey. Everyone's waiting for you. I'll head in and buy you five minutes, but don't keep them waiting too long."
