He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 357

Ottilie quickened her pace.

But Jevon, with his long legs, easily kept up, matching her stride for stride, making it impossible to shake him.

She had no choice but to endure his lecture.

"Don't think for a second Yorath doesn't see right through your little schemes," Jevon warned. "You'd better keep yourself in check. If you actually try to cheat on him, you have no idea how he'll make you suffer."

"What's he going to do? Send me to prison? Lock me in St. Dymphna's Psychiatric Facility again? Been there, done that. It wasn't so bad," Ottilie shot back smoothly.

Jevon choked, completely at a loss for words.

Furious, he snapped, "You heartless brat! Someone gives you one word of advice, and you fire back ten! You're vindictive, manipulative—I honestly have no idea what Yorath sees in you."

"I have no idea what he sees in me either," Ottilie retorted. "Why don't you go ask him? Tell me what it is, and I'll gladly change it."

Jevon decided he was done trying to reason with her. He shoved his hands in his pockets and silently shadowed her the rest of the way.

The frosty silence carried them all the way to the private dining room.

As Ottilie reached for the handle, Jevon stepped ahead to pull it open. "You're a huge star now, the crown jewel of our agency. Let me get that for you."

Ottilie ignored him and walked in, immediately spotting Nyssa Tarrant sitting at the table.

And right beside her sat Hayden Hadley.

Seeing Ottilie walk in, Hayden instantly adjusted his posture, exuding a polished elegance.

Ottilie possessed a strange gravity.

Wherever she went, the atmosphere purified itself.

Anything crass or imperfect suddenly felt unworthy of being in her presence.

Yorath beckoned to her. "Come here."

Ottilie walked over and took the seat beside him. He leaned in, whispering, "Did Mr. Walden leave?"

"Yes. Why is Ms. Tarrant here?" Ottilie glanced across the table at Nyssa.
