Her Hidden Hero from the Unwritten Page novel Chapter 31

Despite his incredibly handsome face, his aura was so distant and aloof that it created an insurmountable wall, making him seem impossible to approach.

Winona Lennox pressed her lips together and answered firmly, "I don't like him anymore."

Seth Lennox didn't quite buy it.

After all, Winona had been obsessed for so long, practically chasing Herbert Xavier everywhere he went. How could she just drop it just like that?

He was just about to ask if they'd gotten into a fight, or if Herbert had bullied her.

Before he could, Winona darted off in two quick steps.

"????"

Seth's face was a map of confusion.

Squinting against the light, he watched Winona run straight up to a rather good-looking guy.

As the faint scent of jasmine drifted closer, Jupiter Ximenez’s grip on his phone tightened for a split second.

The veins on the back of his hand pulsed silently, betraying an inner panic. Yet, his expression remained perfectly calm, his pace unhurried. "Can I help you?"

Winona cleared her throat. "I just wanted to tell you not to believe the rumors on the school forum. That cupcake was always meant for you, not Herbert."

"...Right," Jupiter nodded slowly.

Having delivered her piece, Winona turned to leave.

But perhaps feeling that walking away so abruptly was rude, she forced out another sentence. "Why are you out here all alone?"

"Waiting to pick up a friend."

"Oh." Winona rocked back on her heels. "I'll get going, then."

"Yeah," Jupiter gave a small nod.

It was a polite, standard exchange.

She was like a sudden mist—arriving quickly, vanishing just as fast.

Even standing right in front of him, she felt impossible to grasp.

-

Winona came jogging back.
