Sherry didn’t hold back. She fired off a stream of curses, dragging in every relative Jean had, going back generations.

Her words hit hard and aimed right at Jean’s weakest spots. She’d always been sharp with her comebacks- many people had been reduced to tears by her tongue.

Jean, on the other end, had pictured Sherry panicking and trying to argue properly. She never expected this kind of raw, filthy language-even dirtier than what she’d used.

There was no way to reason with it. Rage burned in her chest, Her vision blurred, her fingers trembled, her heart pounded. The worst part? She couldn’t get a single word in.

Her lips turned purple. Her fingers curled into stiff claws. By the time a doctor noticed, her body was already shaking. They rushed to put an oxygen mask on her and hooked her up to a machine. So much for staying calm and classy.

Tyrone, who had been watching, slowly backed toward the door. This wasn’t the Sherry he knew.

Back when they used to tease her and call her a simp, she never cursed like this. So she could argue them down with sharp logic.

Now he realized she’d been holding back all along. If she’d fought like this before, she would have made every one of them cry.

He made a silent vow never to mess with Sherry again. He’d been a fool not to see how tough she really

was.

“Go tell Gilbert I’m taking Jean to court,” Sherry said, her voice cold. “All the money he gave her to buy me gifts over the years-I never saw any of them. I think she kept the cash for herself.

“Make sure you tell him exactly that.”

“Understood.”

Tyrone tensed up and hurried out the door, moving like someone was chasing him with a stick.

He got things done fast. The morning after Jean woke up, she was handed court papers. She stared at them in disbelief. Gilbert was suing her?

No, that couldn’t be right. After all she’d done for the company? What had she ever done to let him down? But the documents looked real. A few quick questions confirmed it-Sherry had filed the lawsuit, accusing her of stealing money.

“That bitch! How dare she sue me? Who does she think she is?

“I’ve given so much to the company. So what if I kept a little? Think of it as a bonus! She didn’t deserve those gifts anyway. Mr. Bode never said anything. What right does Sherry have to sue me in the name of Bode Group!”

It was just a small mistake. She did it for Gilbert’s own good. If Sherry had gotten all those gifts, she would have clung to him even more-dragging him down forever.

No, this had to be Sherry acting alone. Gilbert was still recovering. She was taking advantage.

But what could she do now? After he came to his senses, what if she had already been facing a lawsuit? Where would her pride be?

This was all Sherry’s fault. She wouldn’t let that woman get away with it.

She went straight to Wendy. She’d expected to find Wendy by Gilbert’s side, but instead, Wendy was in her room, taking selfies from different angles.

Jean started with her usual sharp tone. “I thought you’d be worried about Mr. Bode. But here you are, having a good time.”

Wendy popped a grape into her mouth and wiped her lips. “Of course I’m worried. But what’s the point if he can’t see me? Worry should be where it counts.

“You think I’m like you, working yourself to the bone? I’m born to be treated like a princess. I don’t do suffering.”

A sharp glint flashed in Jean’s eyes. Born to be a princess? Wendy is just luckier, that’s all. Otherwise, I’ll be the one Mr. Bode dotes on!
