Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 181

Chapter 181 Julia’s True Goal

According to Julia’s personality, no matter who ended up as Gilbert’s wife, she’d always butt in.

Whoever married him, Gilbert would always spoil Julia the most in the end.

She’d lay low most of the time, but pop up out of nowhere and steal Gilbert.

Any woman in that position would’ve found it totally gross!

But Wendy hated having to back down too-especially to someone she thought was beneath

her.

“I called to tell you,” Wendy said over the phone. “Julia’s gonna take my spot at the gala. And her target’s obvious-it’s Lucas, the guy by your side.”

Sherry glanced at Lucas, who was hard at work on the other side of the desk.

She frowned.

“If you don’t wanna be outshone by her and get chased out of King City and Seaseat City, you know what to do.”

She hoped Sherry wouldn’t let her down. She wanted them to tear each other apart, to both end up ruined.

Sherry didn’t say a word. She just hung up the phone.

Lucas looked up. “Everything okay?”

She’d taken the call right there at the desk, but her mood was clearly off.

Sherry was surprised by how sharp Lucas was.

And she didn’t plan on hiding it from him, anyway.

“Wendy says Julia’s target is you,” she told him.

“Hmm,” Lucas replied, no expression on his face. He went back to work, then looked up again a second later. “Her target’s definitely not just me.”

“What do you mean? Do you know Julia that well?”

Wendy was way too biased-Sherry didn’t believe her.

Chapter 181 Julia’s True Goal

How could someone be loved by everyone, treated like a precious gem?

Everyone knew why Gilbert spoiled her-Julia had sacrificed so much for him.

She wasn’t sure about George, but he was from Seaseat City. It made sense they’d known each other back in the day.

Yeah, she saved some people before and they would cut her some slack. But treating her like Gilbert and George did? That seemed too much.

She was pretty-but not that pretty, right?

“From what I’ve heard, she’s got some tricks up her sleeve,” Lucas said. “Anyway, anyone she works with-or anyone she wants to be friends with-ends up wrapped around her finger. She’s a goddess to a lot of people.”

So Wendy hadn’t been lying.

Julia really was a goddess to everyone.

But how did Lucas know that?

He never paid attention to stuff going on in Seaseat City.

Plus, Julia had moved to Keiperian years ago.

“To be honest, she does intrigue me a little,” Lucas said casually.

Sherry’s face dropped instantly. Even Lucas is interested in her!

That put her in a terrible mood.

Because of Julia, the only feeling she had left for her marriage was disgust.

It was like suddenly realizing the meal she was eating had already been chewed by someone else.

“If you think your marriage fell apart because of Julia,” Lucas said, “if you think she’ll steal everything from you-then quit. If you hold onto that anger, you’ll be playing right into her hands.”

“It’s not that,” Sherry said. “She did leave a bad taste in my mouth. But I quit because anyone who can be stolen away isn’t worth my time.”

If someone could be stolen once, they’d be stolen again sooner or later.

“You’re right about that.” Lucas nodded. “But you’re forgetting about human nature. Do you really think Julia only wants to steal your man?”

Sherry gave him a look that screamed “What else”?
