Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 183

Chapter 183 The Dress That Shocked Everyone

Once, she cleaned Campbell Villa. Now, she was stuck cleaning the Bode Villa. She was basically a maid, plain and simple.

This event was so fancy-top-tier fancy, even. If Sherry was gonna be here at all, she should’ve been off to the side, running errands. Like a server, carrying plates or pouring drinks.

There’s no way she’d be standing here in an expensive dress.

Dale glanced around. Most people were looking somewhere else, making small talk with each other.

He was so mad that his face was bright red. He stormed right up to Sherry. “Sherry! You don’t belong here! Quit making a fool of yourself and come outside with me-now! Haven’t you embarrassed the Campbell family enough already?”

Teresa was shocked too. How on earth is Sherry here?! So what’s the point of me working my tail off just to get in anyway?

“Sherry, stealing dresses is one thing when you do it at home. But wearing a stolen dress in front of all these people? Someone might actually think you’re a socialite. You can’t even get into family dinners half the time! You didn’t sneak in without a ticket, did you?

“Everyone here’s from top families or the best at what they do. This isn’t some place for you to mess around. Leave before more people show up. Don’t keep making a scene.”

Her voice was even louder and more annoying than Dale’s.

It grabbed everyone’s attention right away.

“Miss, this place is real safe,” one guy said, frowning. “Nobody could sneak in without a ticket.””

They weren’t like those shallow rich folks who believed every little thing they heard. They all had actual brains.

Teresa got a little ticked. She’d planned to show off her charm here but now people were questioning her. “I didn’t say this place isn’t safe. I just know my sister. She has no education and no skills.

“Even if she didn’t sneak in, she must’ve gotten here as a server. Cleaning and washing is all she’s good for. I’m not worried about anything else. I just don’t want her bothering people. And this dress? It’s probably stolen from someone.

“Nobody here’s ordinary. If one or two dresses go missing, they probably won’t even bat an eye.”

Dale stared at Sherry, even madder than before. “Our Campbell family might not be big, but we’ve never done anything this embarrassing! Leave now-you wanna get kicked out?

“If you embarrass me and Teresa ’cause of your nonsense, I’ll never let you live it down!”

Unlike the two of them, who were in a rush to get Sherry out, a delicate girl-like a bratty rich kid-spoke up.

“Are you two for real? Haven’t you seen the dress she’s wearing? That’s Angel Shop’s most valuable dress-the store’s treasure.

“And this treasure isn’t something you can just buy with money. There are tons of super rich people in King City, but this dress is different.

“Only the person who owns Angel Shop can wear it. But I guess the owner might let someone they know wear it too.”

Teresa was fuming. It meant that Sherry’s dress was super valuable.

She didn’t doubt the dress-she just couldn’t believe Sherry got to wear something this expensive. She herself didn’t even have the right to wear it!

“Who are you? Why should anyone believe a word you say?”

“That’s Evelyn Hamilton, from King City.”

Teresa’s face went pale.

“No way,” she said. “There’s no way Sherry could wear a dress this expensive! Are you all blind?”

Evelyn looked stunned.

Everyone else was shocked too.

Someone was actually questioning Evelyn’s call?

“Are you crazy? Or are all people from Seaseat City this ignorant?”

younger

As for the other folks from Seaseat City, except for Gilbert, who was part of the crowd, the other old families had a lot of history. They’d stepped back from the spotlight, but they knew way more than this new generation.
